👨🚀🌌 When people say Purdue is the “Cradle of Astronauts,” they mean it—literally.
Purdue has produced 27 astronauts, more than almost any other university in the world. Among them are legends like Neil Armstrong, the first human to set foot on the Moon, and Eugene Cernan, the last man to walk there.
That means the first and the last footsteps humans have ever taken on the Moon belong to Purdue alumni. How’s that for school spirit? 🖤💛
And it doesn’t stop with Armstrong and Cernan. Purdue grads have logged more than 1,000 hours in space, flown on the Space Shuttle, and continue shaping the future of space exploration with NASA and beyond.
From lecture halls in Indiana to the edge of the cosmos, Boilermakers prove that innovation, discovery, and curiosity don’t just stay on Earth—they soar. 🚀
So next time you look up at the night sky, remember: there’s a good chance a Boilermaker has been there first. ✨
