We have Gray Wing I guess, my feelings about him as a character aside, I like how his disability was written
I think they're trying to set Morningkit up as like DID or something, but nothing is canon yet so I won't judge yet, but while I love representation, I don't think Morningkit being DID is great because it's a trope used a lot in media, that DID is evil and bad and not an illness. But we'll see

thoughts on the terrible horrible no good very bad gray wing?
i never actually finished DOTC but one of the main reasons why is that i didn't really get attached to any of the POV characters so that's already an L on this guy. i have a couple friends who really like him so i respect there's gotta be some value there, and i can't comment anything definitively for lack of full context, but my main impressions of the guy are high school memories of him being kind of boring and annoying, the conversation a couple years ago about how horrifically he treated bumble, and the whole DOTC fridged wife thing soooo it's not looking good at all for mr gray wing's optics i gotta say

I do really love a good fucked up family relationship, especially the complex ones (ex. Berryheart and Sunbeam or Curlfeather and Frostdawn).
But my favorite messed up family relationship has to be Gray Wing and Clear Sky. Something about them just... Landed with me. Especially the scene where Clear Sky was about to kill him and the line "Kill me. Kill me and live with the memory. Then tell the stars you one" made him back off! Like, damn Gray Wing! That line had Clear Sky looking around and seeing the horror, the pain, the death he caused.
Oh god yeah, I love the Gray Wing and Clear Sky dynamic, not a huge Gray Wing fan actually but his relationship with Clear Sky is so well written, I know I joke about how awful Clear Sky is as a person but he's actually got Darktail's level of character development, he's what Hollyleaf wishes to be, he's actually intended as a morally gray character and I love that. My problem with Gray Wing is I don't see the same intended moral grayness in his writing. Anyways I never understood how people think Clear Sky is out of character in some books because in a similar way to Darktail. If you look at his relationships with other cats it all makes sense. Like he's pushing away his family because he thinks he'll hurt them but in the first battle when Gray Wing delivers that line "Kill me, kill me and live with the memory. Then tell the stars you won" it sort of opens Clear Sky's eyes to the fact he's hurting his brother and the cats he grew up with, so he tries to be better. And when Gray Wing dies he looses the cat who helped him. Very well written character
