Leon Bridges - Good Thing (2018)..........As a warning if you are expecting a continuance of his debut in 2015’s ‘Coming Home’, you are in for a surprise. This is not the 60s nostalgic sound that surprised everyone in 2015. You are not going to find homage to Sam Cooke in this record. There are moments of that retro soul music in this album but mostly it’s contemporary soul and R&B sound of todays pop. He still has that beautiful soul voice and the album is wonderful but it’s more mainstream and may disappoint his fans who might feel this album sounds just too commercial. Hard to figure out what his real face is with only just two albums which are so different. Personally his debut Coming Home is the album that I still define him as. That album was a perfect homage to Cooke and no other could’ve done it better than Bridges did. How this new album and sound will be perceived by his fans is hard to tell. But one thing for sure this is one very talented young artist and I have a feeling he’s still got lot up his sleeves. #leonbridges #goodthing #soulmusic #randb #samcooke
