adam seems... distracted as of late.
in a world of realists, he's a dreamer. you know that, but you still can't seem to shake the feeling that something's up with him.
he's antsy, doesn't respond with as much quickness and attention to detail like he used to, and he's always checking for something on his phone!
i was just checking the time he says. iβm so sorry but i have to take this, i'll be right back.
you immediately assume the worst and how can you not? you were stupid, naive to believe everyone else's words over you own thoughts. men like the chase, remember? it's not fun for him anymore now that he's got you to stop running away.
and just when you thought you couldn't be anymore right, he ghosts you. straight up disappears. literally no one knows where he is, not even his best friendβ the guy who watches sad romance movies all the time and swears he doesn't. last he heard, adam was going on a solo trip somewhere.
whatever, no use in crying over spilled milk, right? you don't cry but you do feel let down, angry, hurt. why couldn't you just hold out on him for a little longer? you just had to let your heart feel all those things and get conned by his stupidly handsome face and seemingly genuine eyes.
it hasn't even been a whole week of you trying not to get so mad at yourself when the cause of your frustration shows his face. you won't admit it, but you were relieved to see him again.
and you don't know how relieved he was to see you.
please, i swear i can explain.
should you let him? should you give him the chance to save himself in your eyes? if not for his redemption, the least you deserve is an explanation. so you allow him to give you that, not knowing what you're about to hear.
of course you don't believe his βnonsenseβ about being the long lost son of a place called eternia and his abrupt absence was caused by some creature sent to kill him because it apparently found the cosmic signature of some sword. not until he showed you what happens when he pulls the sword out and says those magic words.
and by the gods is it a sight to see: his blonde hair in a fresh blowout, a leather miniskirt wrapped around his waist, and a steel crop top thatβs so obviously two sizes smaller than his sculpted chest. biceps bigger than your head, back broad as hell, legs for days.
you didn't realize just how much man is packed into him.
he gets the hint to turn back and politely ignores the dazed look on your face.
adam never ghosted you, he never let you down on purpose. he was telling the truth, something he's been doing ever since he learned what truth is.
you feel stupid and kind of crazy but he assures you that you are not. adam insists that you're actually quite smart and logical, along with other characteristics you weren't so sure of about yourself.
but thatβs the thing about people, right? they see things in you that you didnβt know.
you don't hide from him when he looks you in the eyes and reveals how you make him feel. you don't think twice or consider some sort of evil plan hidden under his sleeves.
you simply listen and look as he comes closer and closer to you, trying to find any signs of misjudging the moment or you. when he doesn't find any, he leans in tentatively to do what you've been dreaming of; he turns your brain off with a touch of his lips, setting your body on fire.
heβs not going anywhere anytime soon, you wholeheartedly believe that now.
