4:30 am, making homemade mincemeat and pastry, coughing my guts up, whilst drinking Glayva. Yep, it's christmas.
If anyone is interested, I can post the recipe for the mincemeat.
I'm home-making instead of buying because my mother loathes candied peel/any kind of peel in baking. As she's the only one who eats mince pies, we usually hunt far and wide for a store mincemeat but they never seem to have any without peel. So as a surprise treat, I'm making some from scratch. A dash of brandy for me, a dash for the mincemeat... you know how it goes!
Also, going to see the doctor in four hours. I got ill last weekend, when I got nausea, shakes and chills. Then it descended into sore throat and headaches. Now it's gone from sore throat into severe tonsil swelling, pain, mucus at the back of my throat, heavy chest, coughing (dry), headaches and feeling feverish/rapid heartbeats. There's a wet painful feeling on the right side of my chest and honestly, it's freaking me out. Three years ago I got flu just before christmas which developed into pneumonia, then three months later as it hadn't cleared up, I got a second bout of it (walking pneumonia) and later scans of my chest revealed some nasty scarring in my right lung thanks to consolidation. The past two christmas' I've had the flu jab. But I wasn't scheduled this year for one and I fogot to book myself in, thinking I'd be fine. However, I've ended up with a virus that's starting to look like it might try a repeat performance of three years ago.
And let me tell you, christmas on high strength anti bacterial drugs is not the way to go. At all. Fingers crossed it's -just- bronchitis!
