Okay!! Coffee Shop AU & Character in Peril (I’m assuming you want Drarry)

I don’t normally do this for Drarry, but I’m going to go full-on AU for this, non-magical to boot (again this is not my thing!) but I just saw they’re rebooting Roswell, and hey !

So, Harry’s been working in this coffee shop for a couple of years (gonna go American because I am from the US and it’s a bit easier) after graduating high school. He doesn’t come from much, his parents died when he was a kid and his abusive aunt and uncle raised him, so as soon as he got that paper, he was gone, man. He’s washed up here, small town, not much going on, but he’s got regular hours and the apartment upstairs for cheap. It’s a good gig, and he closes a couple of times a week, after open mic night on Fridays and the after-movie date night on Saturdays.

That’s what he’s doing now, closing the shop. It’s Friday, and he’s been tired all day, feels off. Draco had come in earlier, and Harry can’t help the longing that sweeps through him at the thought of him. Draco’s new in town, and Harry knows he won’t stay. He’s too good for this town, Hary thinks as he wipes down the counter, not enough desert dust on him. He’s clean and smells like New York City socialite, or what Harry imagines one would smell like if he’s ever encountered such a thing. 

Harry hums to himself, turns down the lights and puts the chairs up on the tables so the early morning crew can mop. He’s not paying attention, has his back to the door when suddenly eveything goes to shit. He’s just turning around when shots ring out, and he’s spun around, hits the counter and goes down. It’s like the world gets muffled, like he’s underwater even as he slides down to the floor, one hand helplessly pressed to his chest. Why is it wet? Why is he wet? Is he underwater? He hears muffled shouting, something like “You fucking told me no one would be here, grab the cash, c’mon, let’s go, let’s go!”  He hears more than sees the guys running out the front door and now he’s alone.

It’s silent but for the sound of his heart pounding in his ears and Harry knows that he should do something, knows he should get up, calm down, but he can’t, he’s frozen, here on the ground and then suddenly, he sees movement out of the corners of his eyes. He turns his head to look up, and it’s Draco. Draco is standing there, stricken, his hands outstretched towards Harry, his beautiful hands. Artist’s hands, pianist’s hands. There’s something about his hands.

Something, Harry thinks, and time seems to slow down as Draco drops down to his knees by Harry’s side, and Harry sees tears on his cheeks and Draco holds his hands out once more, presses them to Harry’s chest, and Harry understands.

“Your hands,” he whispers, “They’re glowing.”
