I think my biggest accomplishment in the fandom this year is that I came out of my hiding/lurking shell and that I started participating more actively! I still don’t know what made me take the leap (I started writing Drarry just a few days before the start of a new job… talk about great timing to get inspired!) but I’m grateful for it.
One thing leading to another, I started interacting with people more. I made brilliant new friends (you included!). I met people I looked up to in the fandom. I participated in fests and squeed along. I slowly got back on the arting horse. I wrote 160K words of Drarry fic in a year (it may not be much for better/more prolific writers than me, but you have no idea what it feels like to go from struggling to write a few words of original fiction to having so much fun writing you’re constantly looking forward to your next WIP!).
I feel like none of this would have happened if I wasn’t surrounded by this truly awesome, brilliant, supportive community we’ve built in the fandom. I’ve been in various fandoms over the years and I have never seen a fandom as supportive and welcoming of newcomers as the Drarry fandom.
