So we did go and see Ghostbusters:Afterlife this past
Tuesday and yup they did have in theater merch
for this one! which was awesome and you can see
more about it here.
I have been a Ghostbusters fan ever since there
was a Ghostbusters being a kid from the 80s
I watched the 2 movies many times and
I watched the Real Ghostbusters cartoon
when it originally aired on TV
and I had some of the toys and comics
and general merch growing up.
I always loved it through all these
years.
then the word came that a new movie
was being made that's right the
Dreaded 2016 version.
Now to be fair I did give that
movie a chance (watched both
versions) and I think
we can all agree it was awful
just absolutely awful..
I had a review of it which
was not favorable I don't seem
to have it on the computer so I
probably put it on a disk somewhere
but the final word on that is it
was a awful movie. you can argue
with me all you want about it but
I say Ghostbusters 2016 was awful
and almost ruined the franchise.
period. End of story.
Then this movie came to light
this Ghostbusters: Afterlife
and from the trailers I thought
"this is it! this is the right
direction to go!"
and I wasn't wrong! I wasn't
disappointed I can honestly say
If you're a fan of the 80's Ghostbusters
you should go see Ghostbusters: Afterlife
it's awesome!! This is the movie we should
have gotten in 2016!
I loved every minute of it.
This is truly Ghostbusters 3.
One thing I was interested in
was how they were going to handle
the death of Harold Ramis who
played Egon Spengler being he
passed away in 2014?
and I can say they handled it
perfectly! in the beginning
of the movie they have an
actor portray an older
Egon Spengler you don't get
to see his face but you know
its him and this shows how
the "character" dies
but even though
Harold Ramis had died
in real life he is still
very much apart of this movie
he is there in spirit
(pun intended)
at the end of the movie
there is this really amazing
moment that is very emotional
and they kinda give Harold Ramis
this truly heroic send off
and it is just the prefect
tribute to him and the character
of Egon Spengler
as for the over all story
it is basically focuses on
the daughter of Egon and his
grandchildren as they move into
a secluded farmhouse after the death
of Egon which was owned by him
on the edge of a small town.
As they get adjusted to their
new surroundings weird things
start to happen and the mystery
of why Egon was there in the
first place begins to unfold.
the grand kids find the old
Ghostbusters equipment and
begin to start using it to
protect the town form
a familiar paranormal evil
and in the moment when all
hope is lost the original
team returns to help out.
like I said the movie is
awesome and I truly loved it.
I thought it was nicely shot
and amazingly acted
I thought everyone did an
great job I thought
Finn Wolfhard as Trevor
Mckenna Grace as Phoebe
Logan Kim as Podcast
and Celeste O'Connor
as Lucky really worked
as the new team and it was
awesome to see the original
cast of Bill Murray,
Dan Aykroyd,Ernie Hudson
Annie Potts and
Sigourney Weaver on screen
together again in their
roles.
I also like how the movie
had this really nice sense
of discovery when it came to
the new characters as they
learn about the Ghostbusters
and what they did in the 80s
(this takes place in real time
30+ years after the events of
Ghostbusters 2)
they also used alot of the
score from the original '84
movie and they used the music
and that right at the perfect
times.
I would say this movie
really did honor the early films
its like you do have that
wonderful nostalgic feel to
it but at the same time
you are getting something
that's new and different
it really works
as I said this is the movie
we should have gotten in 2016
its funny and heart warming
has some nice action and
great visuals
in the end the movie is
fantastic and all I can say is
it sounds like Ghostbusters
it looks like Ghostbusters and
it felt like Ghostbusters
unlike something else.
If you're a fan of the 80's Ghostbusters
you should go see Ghostbusters: Afterlife
also don't forget there is a
mid credits scene too that is
pretty funny.
