Cult Of The Lamb: Crown’s Corruption AU

the question that really pushed me to create this au is: what if the crowns were manipulating the bishops for their own gain? and most importantly, what would happen to a lamb that listens to everything it says for "the greater good"?

about the CROWNS

the reason why the crowns manipulate the bishops (and Azrael) is because they keep part of the devotion and sin mostly to survive, but also to keep their power so they can take more devotion and sin

the others crowns are not completely dead yet, but they’re beyond the point of no return basically - even if the bishops somehow got their crowns and followers back, the crowns are too weak to lend any power again

Yngya’s and Chemach’s crowns are different because rather than use devotion from followers, rather they use sanity from their vessel; for Yngya this process was worse because of the rot

each crown has its own standards for a vessel

about the Lamb, a.k.a. Azrael

they think their gender is irrelevant, but i can tell you they’re amab

when the bishops found Woolhaven, they were already old enough to run away by Sariel’s orders with a note

they lived in a nomadic pack of dogs for years, up until they were found again; the bishops had all of the pack executed, and Marna (their older brother) was the only one remaining

they were executed in their early 20s

they struggled with selective mutism a lot, especially when they first ran away from Woolhaven and a few years after the execution

they have fox teeth that the red crown gathered from a heretic in place of their old ones

they decided to kill Narinder, and realized after that that they’d developed feelings for him, so when the mystic seller brought him back, they got pretty obsessed with him

about Narinder

cultists know who he is in theory, but they don’t really fear him because they never really have had bad experiences with him

he’s immortal because Azrael never ripped out his heart and consumed it, which is why they now have the urge to uh. eat him

he’s pretty quick to catch up with what is happening with Azrael, especially after a specific event with Shamura, but that doesn’t mean he’s actually able to do much about it, at least directly

his third eye doesn’t see much anymore (it did when he still had the red crown), it does sense movement though

he doesn’t work much around the cult grounds despite how capable he is at most jobs, but some people do go to him for help; he would scare them off at first, but slowly warmed up to them after a while

it took him a few months to realize he actually doesn’t miss godhood, he just doesn’t want to be forgotten and rediscovers very quickly that it’s a very mortal experience

he matches whatever energy Azrael gives him: they’re clingy as hell? he gets clingy; they become detached with no explanation? he’s making sure to avoid them until they give him attention again

about the BISHOPS

(yes they’re all together because i haven’t fully figured out their designs yet)

Leshy

he had the least amount of trouble getting accustomed to being mortal, he gets to enjoy the chaos of the cult up close even if he can’t see it (he feels it a lot when he burrows into the ground)

the only thing he actually takes seriously is farming, he gets very passionate about it, scaringly so

by “very passionate” i mean he has tried to bury someone in the farm for almost letting pumpkins rot still attached to the plant (Azrael put him in jail for less than half an hour for that, then told him to hide for the rest of the day; they get him)

you know Toph from ATLA? yeah he makes blind jokes like that

polyamorous, technically, but with high standards, so he sticks with the one cultist that fits his standards well enough a.k.a. Noar, the yellow cat

Heket

she was pissed at Azrael the longest, mostly because her anger shifted from “you took away my godhood you piece of shit lamb” (and not being able to say it) to “the food in your cult is so disgusting that i might just eat the cultists instead”

runs the kitchen like it’s the military, but damn if the quality of the food didn’t improve after she arrived

a lot of women in the cult actually got crushes on her because she gives them very special treatments and defends them with tooth and nail, even if they’re in the wrong (“i support women’s rights and wrongs” ahh Heket)

one thing she doesn’t miss about being a god is how she had to bite her tongue a bunch of times because Shamura didn’t let them cuss out dissenters

butch for butch lesbian, she just loooves when her partner presents in a more masculine way

Kallamar

took him a while to accept being mortal, but when he realized just how much pressure he didn’t have on him anymore, he became a lot more relaxed. not confident, but definitely less scared

came to enjoy other ways to perceive sounds a lot, especially vibrations (not necessarily in a sexual way, but it’s certainly appreciated)

is actually working on a sign language for the cult, specifically for him and Heket

the best healer in the cult, unsurprisingly, but has a very weak constitution, so he happens to be the patient pretty often (and complains about everyone else’s terrible care for him)

really doesn’t care about gender when it comes to his partner, that’s pretty much the only thing he doesn’t care about. he’s not nonchalant at all even if the wants to look like it

Shamura

it took them the longest to get accustomed to being mortal again, not much because of the power (or lack of), but because their condition got worse and now they have a limited amount of time to do the things they liked most like study

mind you, there isn’t much material left to study for them, but now it’s much much harder to learn because of the memory issues

surprisingly loved by the kids in the cult, and honestly they enjoy helping them study a lot, though they have a preference for the kids that are avid learners of course

they have a journal that they keep on themselves all the time to note down what they did throughout the day, although sometimes they mix up the dates

they don’t care for romance at all even if technically they feel romantic attraction

about other characters

Marna

Azrael’s only living sibling, he was the first follower to be indoctrinated (they managed to get there in time before he got sacrificed too) and on of the few disciples

he’s a cis guy, but he’s been confusing cultist since day one with his looks because to a lot of them he looks androgynous (he thinks it’s the funniest shit ever and keeps his fur long to cause even more confusion)

Noar

Leshy’s partner, he treated him like the worst person ever before he realized just how much they actually have in common and started getting interested

he was skeptical about joining the cult at first because he doesn’t actually believe, but started to really enjoy the life there, so his devotion comes from the community rather than actual faith

Indigo

a blue bunny that just so happens to be both Kallamar’s partner and my self-insert

they work as a teacher to the younger kids (5-10 year old) but occasionally helps in the healing bay with minor things (or treating Kallamar when he’s being especially difficult)
