I’ve been thinking more about Skizz in my Skizzpulse DBH AU
Skizz, to me, is a very interesting character in this story. He got into law enforcement at a young age because he desperately wanted to help people, and he got very good at his job. He took orders, he led teams, and he learned that many of the people he worked with were not that great. After seeing so many terrible things in the world and the way the “good guys” actually acted, he began to lose momentum and wonder what the point of any of it was. He ended up falling into a depressive state, and being the way he is, didn’t want to burden any of his friends or family with it. So, he isolated. He lost contact with his family and most of his friends. He stopped showing up to work on time, or at all. And the only thing he put any real effort into maintaining was his dog, Kevin. Every day blurred together, and he was essentially in the middle of a midlife crisis.
Then, Impulse shows up.
Impulse is an SV800. A prototype designed to investigate and hunt down deviant androids; it's only there to complete missions. But because Skizz had been depriving himself of any kind of social life, it seems very human. At first, he's afraid of anyone (even a robot) seeing him at his worst, and he tries pushing Impulse away. He’s not being downright hostile, but he’s not being friendly either. Impulse, however, has a job to do and won’t leave until it's complete. So it keeps showing up. And for some reason, it keeps trying to take care of him. It's infuriating the way Impulse makes him feel like a person again, and it's infuriating how much it acts like a person.
Long story short, he gets very attached to Impulse.
I have a bunch more ideas surrounding Skizz realising Impulse is deviating before it does. Also, the whole thing where Impulse realizes that it's actually a he. And the fact that the two of them make each other feel alive. But I’ll probably make individual posts for those things.
