#ghost camera

So in Death Birds (roughly 20 yrs from the timeline of the story), these strange supernatural creatures the world calls Death Birds start appearing. They're 7-9ft tall incomporeal avian/humanoid hybrid shadowy beings that don't really interact with the world except for the fact that they eat death (they dont eat the bodies, they eat like their essense/souls, its kinda vague). Due to this they tend to congregate in areas that experience/ are about to experience a large amount of death, ie. hospitals and the sites of near future mcis.

The Death Birds story follows an ER nurse in the wake of mass tragedy and his feelings about the Birds because of his job. The story sets up this unsettling image of the large ghostly figures walking aimlessly through the halls of the ER and the staff who go about their jobs next to these creatures, because theres always at least one in an ED, even more when tragedy strikes.

So, I think you can catch my idea..

Death Birds AU for the Pitt!

The older staff who have been working since before the Birds arrival, who worked through the first wave of fanatical crazies who killed themselves or others trying to escape "the end of the world", the slow return to equilibrium as everyone got used to it, Covid pandemic (now with giant bird ghost monsters that eat souls). The younger staff who have lived most of their lives with the Birds and entered the medical field with them as a part of it. The season 1 MCI, maybe whispers of Death Birds appearing at the festival before the shooting starts. Robby's breakdown in Peds but add him having to watch Giant Ghost Death Birds eat the maybe souls of the people he feels he failed to save (you can't touch them or stop them, so you just have to watch)

And now season 2.

Robby just trying to get through the final shift before his sabbatical and noticing that the Pitt's resident Death Bird ( i imagine the pitt crew gave it an awful name like Greg or something) won't stop staring at him (a bad omen) from across the ED and hes silently hoping no one else has noticed it (Dana noticed. She hates that thing). As the shift goes on the Bird keeps moving closer and following him around. Maybe at one point Robby turns around and accidentally walks right through it (superstition says this shortens your lifespan), he tries to blow it off as superstition but a number of crew are now highkey worried.

Everyone is asking if hes feeling okay or if something is going on, because the Bird is following you and touched you! And he brushes it off. hes the chief of an ED, the damn bird knows if it follows him it'll get a meal eventually, hes always at least present at codes. its fine, theres no proof that touching them is dangerous.

Eventually the shift ends, handover happens and Robby goes to leave for his trip. And as he slips away Abbott and Dana watch in horror as the EDs resident bird follows him out, maybe trailed by a second bird who showed up not too long ago.
