Nico absentmindedly waved a head around his head. Sometimes he wondered why the camp border didn’t also block out all the bugs. It did a decent job blocking out some of the really bad weather. It never really snowed there, and the most rain they ever got was a gentle rainstorm over the strawberry fields. Nico suspected it was justified as being part of the “summer experience” for some of the non-year-rounders that only saw the wilderness during the summer months, but he thought one mosquito bite was all that was needed to make an experience.
“No,” he said, finally answering Jesper’s question. “Bugs don’t have animi, uh, animuses? Anyway, they don’t really have a soul, and if you don’t have a soul, you can’t become a ghost.” Good thing too because if they did, the world would be overrun with ghost bugs.
And he ducked at the last minute, pulling his head out of the path of the zooming wasp, curse muttered under his breath.
