This game came out when I was 7. I got it for my seventh birthday, and it was the first game I ever owned.

I was awful at it, and for years and years I played it from the start in hopes of finally completing it. I never did.

When I found out it was 10 years old this year, I convinced myself, and I played it again, the entire thing through, for the first time.

When the final cutscene with N played, and finished, as the credits rolled, I cried. I cried harder than I had cried in months.

I had done it. Ten years of trying, of failing, I finally got to say a real goodbye to them. Bianca, Cheren, N, Juniper, Alder; Iris. They were my friends as I grew up, went through hardships, felt alone, they were always there, and after trying for so long, I finally got to complete their story, say a real thank you for being there.

I can’t listen to this theme without crying anymore, because it sounds exactly as I feel: like a fond farewell, a final thank you,

Saying goodbye to an old friend.

I turned 17 today.

It’s hard to believe that I’ve grown so much, been through so much. I don’t know who or where I’d be without this game though.
