“Things, they’re just things. What makes them alive? It’s our opinion of these things. It’s one thing to appreciate street fashion, to be a sneaker collector. But, can you know something so deeply that you carve out your own narrative against it? Gary did that.” -Bobby Hundreds
On thehundreds.com, Bobby remembers Gary Warnett aka GWARIZM, a rare figure who made street & sneaker culture human and more alive. Rest in power, Gary.

'CAPS / ONE SIZE FITS ALL' by Steve Bryden
‘CAPS/One Size Fits All’ is a highly original book by Steve Bryden which chronicles the often overlooked story of cap culture. Looking back to the original conception and addressing multiple design changes, Bryden maps out the journey of the cap from its “humble beginnings” as a functional item and emphasizes the ways in which it has evolved into a fashion must-have.
Like many who have been swept up by the cultural craze for caps, Bryden’s enthusiasm for this all weather accessory is unwavering. In the introduction to his encyclopaedic style book, he tells the charming tale of where his preference for wearing and collecting caps first stemmed from (we’ll let you read that one yourselves) and shares a childhood photograph of himself sporting his cap number 1, a red Marlboro promotional hat. Surely that will be a collector’s item one day!

“I feel naked if I leave the home without one on. And I’m not the only one… there are many of us who throw them on each morning, unaware of how much this humble design had changed fashion on a global scale.” ~ Steve Bryden
Journalist and brand consultant Gary Warnett taps into a little bit of headwear history to give us an idea of where the cap community came from and how it has “snowballed into such a huge phenomenon over its 150+ years of existence.” We’re talking army hats, golfing hats, contemporary baseball caps and even the anatomy of a cap, this book tells it all! Honestly, who knew there was a fine from the 1500's for failure to flaunt a hat on Sundays?
"The cap can hide and it can highlight, and though its beginnings were simple and functional, its meanings today are almost infinite.” ~ Gary Warnett

In CAPS / One Size Fits All, Steve Bryden introduces us to the ‘Major Players’ in cap culture, brands like New Era and American Needle who have taken the cap’s contour as a blank canvas on which to stamp with their own unique character. He even interviews cap connoisseurs, the people he describes as ‘Influencers and Innovators’, who truly know caps like the back of their hand.
This awesome book is packed full of famous faces looking cool and casual in all different types of colourful caps. Bryden has sourced images of everyone from Britney and Beastie Boys in trucker caps to Will Smith wearing his 90’s snapback as the Fresh Prince and Tom Hanks’ in the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. cap from the 1994 movie Forest Gump. As well as many more photos of cap wearers from major city streets.
We at TWENTY6 absolutely loved looking though the fashion designer cap collaborations that have happened over the years and the Marc Jacobs x New Era caps from 2011 in 3 shades of grey were definitely among our favourites. That's the beauty of this book, whether you're into sports, film, art, skateboarding, tattoos or even shoes, you'll be sure to find a cap in here that fits.
“The cap is here to stay – and will remain forever on my head.” ~Steve Bryden
