I cleaned and redesigned Gaibon’s enclosure. I made an oasis on the cool side with fake vining plants. And then I created a desert on the hot side with a real aloe, and several basking spots around the lights.
Currently he’s in a huff because he doesn’t like change but hopefully he relaxes and explores his renovated home.

Today I learned of the existence of mighty Slogra and deadly Gaibon, but I did not learn which is which so this comic only has a 50% chance of being accurate.
There are actually character model sheets for some of Castlevania’s night creatures released online! The official art book has only a few renders, but no full-on sheets, and I don’t have a scanner, so I’m only working with the ones released online, but better some than none! So for the reference of anyone interested;
We have this initial batch from Seasons 1 and 2- Alas, the first half of the show had a pretty lacking bestiary that can easily be contained within just one post! I’ll organize the rest of the night creature model sheets based on ‘affiliation’ in separate posts from here.
First there’s our classic gargoyle, which for a while made up the vast majority of our bestiary and got pretty old after a while tbh; But after Season 3, I was much more receptive to their more populous return in the Targoviste arc!
Bat-like with claws, wings, and fireballs; A nice, standard monster to act as a default! The Castlevania wiki describes some as Lesser Demons, but this is false; The art book clarified that there’s only one Lesser Demon in the show, the bull-headed night creature that Trevor fights in the Season 3 finale!
Afterwards we have the Stone-Eyed Cyclops, which protected Alucard; Had Trevor not killed it, could the cyclops have been an ally?
Blue Fangs is a fan-favorite and a classic, and put up a pretty decent fight against Trevor and Sypha!
Afterwards we have the classic duo of Slogra and Gaibon! They definitely muscled our Slogra’s physique, I guess the animators thought his shrink-wrapped look from the games would be hard to take as seriously?
Also a bit disappointed his spear doesn’t resemble the one from the games, but that’s semantics... I do wish Gaibon was more of a light blue though, his color scheme in the show just makes him blend in with the other night creatures.
Seasons 1 and 2 were definitely the worst in terms of night creature bestiary, alas, but at least when they reintroduced a Velocivampire in Season 4, they made sure to give it a more green coloration to stand out!
Finally we have Malphas, who is just an utter aesthetic, and his bone-mask-beak-face was incredibly gnarly; Especially the reveal of the human teeth underneath! Wish we could’ve seen Hector forge this dude a second time.
