Of Suitors and Suitability

Nor have we touched upon the potential of Fyodor taking Ranpo’s role.

Imagine Fyodor being obsessed with Ranpo because he learned that he doesn’t actually have an ability despite believing that he does.

Okay, so... that'd be absolutely horrifying. I'm going to focus on the last one because I can see that one the most.

Fyodor already is completely devoted to the idea of serving God and wiping out all ability users. Ranpo, however, isn't an ability user, despite showing signs of being one, and Fyodor becomes absolutely OBSESSED with finding out how and why.

Why would someone damn themselves to believe they have an ability when in truth, they are a child of Christ who would be saved?

Ranpo's relationship with Fyodor would be less 'rivals' and more like Fyodor is a (platonic) Yandere, while Ranpo is the compeltely unwilling victim. Fyodor wants to save Ranpo. Ranpo doesn't want or need to be saved.

I feel like, in this, Fyodor would also despise Fukuzawa, as Fukuzawa is the one who told Ranpo that he had an ability, and in Fyodor's mind, is the one who decieved Ranpo into beliving he had some gift of the damned when really, besides some fear and doubt, he was pure. He had no pride before being convinced he had an ability. He was not so prideful or arrogant. Those sins came after being convinced.

Every time Fyodor manages to capture Ranpo, Ranpo's always blindfolded when he wakes up, and always in a church. (Though Fyodor has learned by now which cloths irritate Ranpo's eyes, which would draw attention away from the scripture he's reading to the detective) The church because, well, Fyodor wants him to accept God and join him and be forgiven, and the blindfold so he can't use his 'cursed, false' ability.

Fyodor sees Ranpo as a lamb of God who was led astray by those damned creatures that call themselves ability users, while Ranpo sees Fyodor as someone awful who shows him, whether he wants it or not, that he isn't special, but keeps taking him away, trying to convince him to join him so that they can clense the world together.

The way out is through (M) (6/6) ~34k - Kunizai - Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Kunikida deals with the fallout from Fyodor's victory, and struggles with existing and exacerbated mental health issues. Dazai is there for him in his own messy way, for better or worse.

The rules are simple, really.

If Fyodor proves he truly has rid the world of abilities, then he wins. If Ranpo somehow proves him wrong, then they win. They’ll travel for this, so that Fyodor may show as much evidence as he likes. (So that Fyodor can show Ranpo enough to break them.)
