Hello. Could you write Terushima and Futakuchi for the challenge? Maybe for âYou could have warned me!â. I'll let you decide if it's fluffy or angsty... maybe more 'shenanigans'. Is that a category?
Futakuchi Kenji putters about the kitchen in his squarish teal neon gummy printed boxer glory. Though he wasnât exactly only his boxers, he had, with some foresight, slipped on a more homely, and admittedly, floral apron so that he could protect his squarish teal neon gummy glory from the boiling tomato sauce on the stove. He prides himself in having some sort of rhyme and reason in his actions. (e.g. teal boxers because heâs ridiculously low-key proud about his poetically stressful term as captain of his volleyball team), even if sometimes theyâre non-existent.
A smile pulls at his lips as he stirs the sauce. Now it happens to be a special day today. Itâs a day of remembrance, of reminiscing today and celebrating the future. Well, itâs date night (though the actual date today has slipped his mind at the moment), and heâs going to go all-out (thus, spaghetti. Or lasagna. He has both pasta in stock.).
He has a nice classy surprise planned, all from the comfort of home. He even got his suit all pressed and ready. (thus boxers.)
Terushima Yuji, as Kenji ever so fondly recalls, never really shied away from surprises. The only problem is that Yuji always orchestrated surprises himself, and not the other way around. Yuji being surprise personified. A wolf in sheepâs clothing. A sheep in sheepâs clothing. That sort of thing. Kenji takes a spoon and tastes his sauce.
Needs more salt? He adds some salt.Â
On second thought, Yuji strikes Kenji as more of the crazy soloist that asks everybody to catch up (thus a classy homey set-up).
The sauce bubbles prettily in the stainless steel pot one more time, before Kenji deems himself satisfied and he turns off the stove. He wipes his hands on a towel before slinging it over his shoulder. Time to layer the lasagna.
Pan, pan, pan. Futakuchi bangs around the cupboards looking for a pan in his boxers and he thought he was prepared.
Shit, shit. Palm to forehead. Of the many things he had to forget, and it was telling his honeybun not to come home earlier.Â
Yuji gasps from behind, he hears something drop to the floor, and he tries to put up an easy smile. Spoiler alert he fails.
âHey, Yuji, surprise.â Somewhat nervous laughterÂ
âYou didnât.â Yuji says this with the most fake-sounding disbelief in his voice. Almost like poorly stirred powdered-juice. It seems to crawl down his hoodie (yellow, because duh), to his pristine slacks (a nice dark gray, got to be classy when you work in an office), and to his goat-printed black socks.
The disbelieving boy wanders over to the pot to check the contents. From there he notices the varied unopened packs of pasta on the counter. âYou were going to make pasta, for today?â
âYeah, sorry I couldnât finish earlier.â
Yuji smiles, a crooked one sided thing. Almost like a toy knife. âYou couldâve warned me, I would have come home dressed for the occasion.â
âYou would come home in your boxers?â
He seems to contemplate this as goes in for a backhug. âMaybe. If you wanted.â
Kenji sympathetically pats Yujiâs cheeks. He pinches it a bit. âYuji, my man, if you came in your suit a bit later you wouldâve had a better surpriseâ
True it is his fault that he didnât warn him, but since theyâre here in this situation, they might as well make the best of it. âLetâs make dinner together, Yuji.â
âSure thing.â He steals a kiss. He peels himself off of Kenji to pick up his bag off the floor.
He seems to sigh a bit. âYeah Iâm fine.â
Suspicious. Kenji walks over and checks his temperature. It all clicks. The hoodie, coming home early. (on second thought, the hoodie is normal) âYouâre pretty hot.â
âI meant it on both counts, but you have a fever.â If there was anything Kenji didnât expect, itâs that his date fic would turn into a sick fic.
âYuji, it wonât ruin our date night.â
He shrugs. âI know, I just didnât want you to worry.â
Kenji pulls him into another hug, he makes sure to rub his back. Soothingly. Not like trying to make fire. Itâll be alright. Probably.
