This got a bit long so I put a read more, but you can also read on AO3 here!Â
Atsumu remembered the first time he saw Akaashi Keiji, the awe heâd felt watching the other setter toss for the Fukurodani Volleyball Club. He was sure that it had been love at first sight.
He remembered the first rejection heâd received from Akaashi Keiji in their third year of high school. Itâs not ideal to date someone from another prefecture. Atsumu wished heâd known the real reason Akaashi had rejected him, perhaps he could have avoided this entire situation then.
He remembered the second and third times Akaashi had rejected him, in their first year of University and still living in different prefectures. You need to stop asking me on dates, I cannot say yes. Atsumu was glad he now knew why he really should have stopped asking, though he doubted it would have made a difference.
The last time he asked Akaashi out had been different.
âKeiji, I really like you, and I know you keep saying no, but Iâm going to keep asking until I donât like you anymore. Will you go on a date with me?â
Akaashiâs gaze paused, looking both pained and as though he might say yes. Atsumu held his breath in anticipation for what might be.
âAtsumu, I like you too, but it is too dangerous. I cannot risk your wellbeing, I wouldnât be able to live with myself if anything happened,â he said, âYou mean too much to me.â
âWhat could possibly be too dangerous, Keiji? I can look after myself, just as much as you can look after yourself,â Atsumu said, beyond confused about how the male beauty before him could possibly have the power to get him hurt or killed.
He watched the conflicted expression pass over Akaashiâs face, closely followed by one of pain. Atsumu felt his heart skip a beat, perhaps Akaashi had real reason to worry.
âOne date. We will get coffee and then we never speak of this again, do you understand?â
Atsumu nodded.
The date had been a short six hours ago, of that Atsumu was at least seventy per cent sure. Those six hours felt like a lifetime ago though.
The darkened room he sat in on what he thought was a wooden chair had meant that he didnât have much to do other than wait. The ropes that held him to the chair dug into his wrists and ankles painfully if he tried to move, and he was sure that heâd have scars from where the ropes had rubbed. The rope around his stomach wasnât as tight, but was preventing him from stretching his back, something his muscles had been screaming at him for for the majority of the time heâd been locked in.
When heâd first woken up in the chair there had been a kind young man talking to him, despite knowing Atsumu was gagged and had no way of responding. That man had either been relieved of his shift, or murdered. Atsumu hated that heâd probably never know which it had been: home time or death.
A loud crash alerted him to the intercom being turned on. He wasnât sure if fear was the more appropriate reaction, or if his curiosity was just getting the better of him, but he was impatient for anyone to say something.
He heard a series of crashes before a voice spoke to him, a squelching sound echoing loudly through the room. The reality of the situation finally hit him.
âGuess your boyfriend doesnât like you enough to come for you himself. He just sent one of his goons. Too bad they didnât have the foresight to keep themselves alive. How do you feel about talking to the head on a pike? We could also feed you the organs of this goon if youâd like.â
The voice was soothing, and did not match the words coming from the speaker, but he knew that they were dangerous. There was no way that the person who he assumed was meant to save him had survived.
Another hour passed before an explosion shook the room he was in. Alarms blared throughout the room.
âAn intruder has been detected. All staff kill on sight,â a metallic voice said calmly.
âHmm, perhaps your knight in shining armour did come to save you. Itâs unfortunate that neither of you will be leaving here alive,â the soothing voice said over the intercom.
There was another explosion, it felt closer this time. Much closer. A loud crash sounded over the intercom speaker, followed by a loud grunt.
âWell, isnât this unsurprising. I expected better,â the voice said.
Atsumu hoped that the voice was implying what he thought it was. That maybe Akaashi had finally arrived to save him.
A sickening squelch sounded throughout the room, like that of organs being removed from a body. And then the door swung open, revealing his saviour. Akaashi stood there, blood covering him head to toe and what Atsumu could only assume was a human heart in his hand.
He thought he might faint.
He held his breath as Akaashi untied the ropes that bound him to the chair, pulling the gag away from Atsumuâs face once he was free from the ropes. Atsumu could barely process the lips that met his, only briefly before loud voices interrupted.
He watched as Akaashi pulled two knives from his belt, leaving the room. The only reason Atsumu knew what was going on was the sound of bodies hitting the floor with loud thumps.
It was five minutes before Atsumu ventured out of the room to follow Akaashi through the corridors of his prison. Every time the came across another one of Atsumuâs captors, Akaashi took care of them. Human hearts littered the ground, all of them laying beside the body it belonged to.
By the time they made it out, Atsumu had realised that Akaashi did this regularly. He had a signature to let these people know heâd been there. The hearts were like a warning, a threat even.
hello, for the writing meme: fluff 8 + 11? (kuroyaku? if you can but honestly i love every and any thing you write) happy valentine's day!
8. âOkay, where are all my jumpers?â11. âYou owe me a kiss.â
âOkay, where are all my jumpers?âÂ
It was the beginning of winter, and damn if Kuroo wasnât cold at seven in the morning. Where on earth had they all gone? He was sure heâd put one away just last night.Â
âYakkun, have you seen any of my jumpers?â He called, poking his head into the small hallway that connected their bedroom to the kitchen and bathroom.Â
It was with an amused smile that he saw his partner making breakfast, wearing a very familiar cream-coloured jumper.Â
âWhat are you yelling about so early?âÂ
Yaku had the smile of an angel on his face, it never failed to lure people into a false sense of security. He often wondered why people didnât see through him more often. Yaku wasnât particularly subtle when he convinced everyone to do the things they didnât want to do.Â
Kuroo moved to stand behind Yaku as he finished making their breakfast omelettes.Â
âYou know, itâs really unfair that you get to take all of my jumpers and leave me freezing to death. What would you do if I go hypothermia and died?âÂ
Yaku fixed him with a stare and a raised eyebrow.Â
âYou wouldnât.âÂ
âYou know what I think? I think you owe me a kiss for stealing all my jumpers, Yakkun,â he said with a grin.
Yaku rolled his eyes as he placed the hot pan back on the stove to cool. Soon enough, he was facing Kuroo again, too big sleeves threatening to fall back down over his hands.Â
âI think youâre fishing,â he stated, crossing his arms over his chest.Â
âYakkun, will you give me a kiss? Itâs only fair you are wearing my last jumper after all.âÂ
Boom, there it was. He watched as red spread across Yakuâs cheeks in embarrassment. For someone with such vulgar language at times, he sure got embarrassed by the smallest hint of romance.Â
âYakkun~ Can I have that kiss now?âÂ
He was going to win this fight. Yaku would give in soon. If he stared for just three, two, one, and there. There it was, Yakuâs arms came to rest at his side as he took a step closer.Â
Kuroo dipped his head down as Yaku leaned up on his tiptoes. Their lips met for only a second before Yaku was hurrying away, a plate in hand.Â
Kuroo let a smile, a real smile, fall onto his face as he watched him.Â
Maybe heâd let Yaku take his jumpers more often if he could get his shorter boyfriend flustered again.Â
Kenma knew he was smiling from the look that Kuroo was giving him on the train. He couldnât help it, they were visiting Shouyou.Â
âI know youâre excited Kenma, but really, it wouldnât kill you to show this much excitement when I visit. I know Iâm not this shortie but itâs insulting. Iâve been your friend for years and all I get is âshut up Kuroâ or âIâm not helping you practice Kuroâ. Just once, thatâs all I ask.â
Kenma didnât let up fighting the boss level as Kuroo spoke. He was used to this. Kuroo would complain, but he knew he didnât really mind. He wouldnât come back if he did.
âYouâre not Shouyou,â he said, letting himself smile.
Kuroo didnât say another word until they got to the station where Shouyou had said heâd pick them up.
âHey Kenma, I think that Hinata was waiting for you.â
He looked up, spotting the ray of sunshine jumping up and down outside the gates. Kenma didnât speed up to get out faster. He did not.
âKENMA!â
Kenma got little warning as he caught Hinataâs weight, the breath knocked out of him in doing so. For someone as small as Hinata, he sure was heavy.
âHey Shouyou,â he said.
âOkay okay, break it up lovebirds. Iâm here as moral support, not to be the third wheel. Get a move on so I can at least pretend to be busy while youâre off doing coupley things,â Kuroo said, giving them both a light shove.
âJust because youâre in a relationship with chemistry, Kuroo.â
Kurooâs spluttering made it worth it when he broke away from Hinata to walk in the direction of the bus.

Tooru knew he could be difficult, but he hadnât seen Tetsurou quite that annoyed before though. Surely he wouldnât want to stay with him. Tetsurou deserved much better after all.Â
Thatâs why he didnât know what to say as his bedhead ridden boyfriend stood in their small kitchen making tea. He didnât look mad, but in his experience, that didnât mean much.Â
âTooru?âÂ
He jumped at his own name. This was it. This was when Kuroo would admit to being over him, that he didnât want to be together anymore.Â
âYes, Tetsu-chan?âÂ
He couldnât bring his eyes up to look at his face. He wouldnât let his heartbreak be seen. It wasnât worth the pain.Â
âCan you get the teacups? And do you want toast too?âÂ
Wait, what?Â
âArenât you going to break up with me?â Tooru asked.Â
Tetsurou looked confused. His head was tilted to look at Tooru as he waited for his own toast to pop from the toaster.Â
âWhat on earth? Whereâd that come from?âÂ
âAfter last night, I just assumed you wouldnât want to be with me. No one else did. Why would you want to stay?âÂ
Tooru knew how silly it sounded as he spoke. He wasnât going to let himself hope after everything his past lovers had said.Â
âWhat? Tooru, I will never leave you. Sure, last night I was annoyed, but that was a lack of sleep more than anything. Weâre always going to disagree on some things, and if you think thatâs going to keep me from loving you then you are sorely mistaken.âÂ
He didnât know what to say. He couldnât make his brain work enough to formulate words. Tetsurou had said he loved him. Tetsurou wasnât going to leave him.Â
Even as he was wrapped in a strong hug, he didnât quite believe him. Everyone left him at some stage. Iwa-chan didnât though, the voice in his head said. Yeah, Iwaizumi had stayed, and if heâd stayed, maybe Kuroo would too.Â
