(Worth the long read, I promise)

It was a dark Monday morning at 2:00 am. We live five minutes out of town on a farm right off a very long driveway that used to be the old highway. We always have problems with teenagers driving down and trying to get drunk or high past the tree line. One day we even had basket case in the back fourty, just sitting in his car with a gun. It was a huge ordeal with police involved and everything. The point is, it’s a popular place to hide out from the authorities. 

I lay in my bed unable to sleep, just staring out my window. Now people tend to get lost and use the driveway as a turn around as well, so when I heard the put put of a car approaching it didn’t strike us as unusual. The only thing off was that they didn’t have their headlights on. They stopped around the middle of the driveway and sat there for a good 10-20 minutes. The whole time they kept their lights off and the only reason they left was because the family that lives in the house we rent out next to us saw them as well and purpously made a loud noise to let them know they were there. They sped off fairly quickly after that and soon I fell asleep.
