I’m not here to attack the ship or its shippers. The ship there is fine, I’m not against it at all. It is still just two fictional characters. But it really made me think about how selective people can be when it comes to what they choose to hate.

In that story the age gap is 25 years. Almost the same kind of difference Hank and Connor would have if Connor were human.

And yet… nobody seems to scream about how “disgusting” or “problematic” that is. No endless harassment, no moral panic. Meanwhile, hankcon gets treated like it’s the ultimate evil in fandom simply because of the age gap and "oh but they are father&son coded" (while they are not).

So why is it acceptable in one case but condemned in another?

Well...

Selective morality. People don’t apply the same standards everywhere.

Visibility. Popular pairings become easy targets for hate, while niche ones are left alone.

Projection. Some fans project their own issues and insist on seeing Connor as a child, even though he clearly isn’t.

“Realism” bias. When it’s anime, people shrug it off as “fiction.” When it’s characters that look like real actors, suddenly it’s treated like a moral crime.

It’s not that hankcon is more “problematic” than other ships. It’s just that people decided to turn it into a symbol for everything they want to condemn.

People are actually attacking Ashley because Fearne slept with someone else than Ashton?

many people don't like Togami, because he is an eccentric, narcissist, etc etc, and everyone is ok with that, even others admit that they don't like Togami and they become friends.

But I came, and I say I didn't like Nagito (because yeah, I don't like the character, not even if he has trauma and taka taka) AND THEY ARE REALLY ANGRY! How it's that possible?? I don't care if Nagito is a Husbando, the best antagonist, ect

look...I don't care if Nagito is better and superior to the other characters, I don't like it, get it! I don't like it, and stop treating me like an idiot because I don't like it, that half the fandom likes it, doesn't mean I have to like it, okay?

Clear example, everyone likes Komahina, but in my case, no, why? Because I don't like Nagito, but that does not mean that I have another shipeo to him

The fact is, I said it, my favorite of Hajime is Pekohina, and I get three bastards of "But you are being an exclusion of the LGTB+, because you are homophobic, Hajime is gay, because all the fandom says and knows that, he is gay" Excuse me but...¿When is confirmaded that Hajime is Gay and i can't ship him with another character?

Finally, live and let live. A person is not homophobic because he does not like the Komahina, is not the only ship of that type, ok?
