Anakin lost count of the number of times he'd tried to propose--so many that he'd simply given up. Then it was Padmé's turn.

Anakin slid into the diner booth across from his sister, folded his arms atop the table, and promptly dropped his head.

Ahsoka, without hesitation, erupted in laughter. “Still haven’t asked?”

He groaned in exhaustion and shook his head.

It’s not that he didn’t want to ask Padmé to marry him. Or that he hadn’t tried at least—

I've posted the final chapter of this pre-series White Collar AU where Neal grew up across the street from Peter's family.
