And yes the Vampires are terrifying on Floramore. They are sort of like an invasive species to the plane. While the sun is up they appear completely human, with no hint of vampirism. But under the light of the moon their skin turns ashy grey, eyes glow like dead embers, and their mouth unhinges like a great serpent to feed. The only reason things have not gone the way of ulgrotha, is that Floramore is abhorrent to unlife. The vampires while largely unchecked are having a hard time increasing their numbers. Most ether die or become mindless blood thirsting ghouls, with most attributing this to a plague called the blood-letting.
Oooo definitely sounds scary but cool! Do the vampires know they’re vampires during the day or is it almost a transform/amnesia sort of thing? How did they wind up on Floramore? Definitely sounds scary for the regular denizens of the plane but it’s good to hear the mortals have a chance since the plane keeps the undead in check!
How do you think your fanplanes would handle Phyrexian invasion? at least based off of what we’ve seen so far
Now that the story for March of the Machine is out and we have a better understanding of just what the invasion of the Multiverse entailed, here is how my planes faired @leafdrake-haven.
Floramore
As the clear sun blessed skies above the verdant plane where ripped asunder, the branches of the invasion tree quickly Sought the few population centers upon the largely rural world.
The pregnant Queen Elenora was escorted to safety by her loyal thorns threw the maze of catacombs beneath the palace. As with in the grand ball room, amongst the cacophony of panicking nobles, those who had long been plotting against King Alphonse struck. The young king felt a blade slip into his back as a honeyed voice whispered bitterly in his ear. "Dusk has come for the kingdoms of the living, now rises the king of the blood moon," No one even notices the alabaster sun bleed out upon the marble floor.
In the west on a hill overlooking the malfaisant wood is the last great castle from the time of the verdant kings. A branch having planted itself in the courtyard and the sound of a massacre could be heard. But it is not the inhabitance of the ancient keep that die this day, but those foolish enough to defile the home of Duke Lyle the Dhampir master of the hunt. The whirlwind of death that takes place there leaves the Phyrexian in reeling in honor. As their precious oil bubbles and hisses against Lyle's cold pale skin, before flaking away harmlessly like autumn leaves.
For it is in this moment that this plane so abundant in organic life let it's distain for those who had come to despoil it known. Across fields of wilding flowers herds of unicorns manifest from between beams of sunlight, horns lowered in a living phalanx that crashes into the Phyrexian host. Swarms of fairies swirls long the branches of the invasion tree, sticking prickles, stolen needles and bits of glass between the armor of the unnatural invaders. In small towns all across the plane errant knights come to their defense, reliving the glory of the age of chivalry. As covens of witches tap into the fear and panic flooding Floramore to weave curses of power not seen before.
For if ever there was a plane of nightmares for the Phyrexians it is here, where even the oil in their veins feels as if boils.
Out of all my planes Floramore fairs the best, below are short snippets of what happens with a few other others if you interested.
Hyverta
Being a planeswalker who is actively looking for allies to aid him in his fight with the Discordance, Nivel knew of the Phyrexian's planes to invade the multiverse. Sadly there was little he could do to rally his home in defense of another threat as it was actively being torn apart by the first. So when the sky shattered and great tendrils wound their wat to the cities not yet laid low by rampaging elementals, the half orc thought this was the end. Only the Phyrexian found the Discordance every bit as vexing as the natives of Hyverta did. Their magic acted erratically, turning upon them as it became sentient and hostile. The entire plane descending into anarchy.
Lochtamor
The great powers of Lochtamor had long been preparing for war with one another so the Phyrexians found them neither unprepared, nor lacking. The highlands erupted into battle before the first branch even touched the ground. The clans of cat giants found there are warriors to their core and always eager for a fight and meet the invaders with a ferocity they where unexpecting. Above the bright isle star faced angels did battle with twisted mockers of their forms as below the polished armor of the kingdoms defenders dripped with oil. The invading forces that found their way to the Thurngul forest quickly became lost in the maze like woodland. The elves of moon and shadow used their magic to isolate their would be conquers and pick them off one by one. But al is not well for one of the Invasion trees branches found it's way to the heart of the plane, Loch Tamor, the great lake where the lay lines of the world meet. Already the surface of the lake bubbles with glistens as a great storm threatens to drown the plane oil. Earthquakes rock the lands as drakes and wyrms burst forth twisted into phyrexian likeness, as the primordial elder dragons drown in the essence of phyrexia.
Kamakshetra
The great jungle plane only has one population to speak of, the grand city Zataparva. The branches of the Invasion tree rip the city the spans the Bo river in two, sending great portions of it crashing into the waters below. The battle for the city was over before it even started, the population fleeing into the relative safety of the jungles. Those that could fight engaging in gorilla warfare as the man-eating plants and chimera beasts prey upon the invaders. All around them the thousand avatar and incarnation of the goddess, for who for the plane in named for, brings her fury down upon Norn's orthodoxly.
Crusabella
Crusabella knew of the coming invasion long before it happened for those gifted with visions of future spoke in unison of metal demons pouring from the sky upon the tendrils of a Eldredge kraken. The church had to put many of them down as black tear poured from their eyes and their bodies became hosts of metal demons. But when the invasion happened they could not have foreseen that the longest held prophecy, the one given by the prophetess the church was founded, upon would come to pass. The halls of the Candled Thrown where thrown upon and the angel gather soul flooded back upon the plane. The souls inhabit anything they can, the finely crafted marble armors made by the church, gargoyles and even entire ships as the gathered with the living to bright back this invaders.
Sucrotopolis
The lands made entirely of sugar and spice was in the mist of a brutal civil war. So when this strange being made of meat and metal came spilling from the sky the Sugar and Spices put aside their difference momentarily to fight a common threat. Though the Phyrexians quickly discover that everything on this plane was organic, but a form of processed organic material that their oil could not interact with in any significant way. So just as quickly as the invasion of Sucrotopolis started the branches of the Invasion Tree returned back threw the portals it opened as their forces would best be used elsewhere. So with that distraction out of the way the Sugars and the Spices got back to killing one another.
Aw thank you kindly Anon, it is very sweet of you to come congratulate me, I was quite chuffed with myself!
I love designing cards! Especially planeswalker cards for my mutual wonderful ocs, I'm always happy to take a crake at making new designs for them. The @inventors-fair has been a wonderful resource for improvising my mediocre card making skills.
It has also ben wonderful in getting me to write more often that in turn helps with my Agraphia.
I was also shocked when I was welcomed into the winners circle for the Four-Letter Word prompt. As the Fair tends to look for much more powerful and mechanically interesting cards, and I tend to me more timid with my card creations.
A good example of this is my submission for the Words of Power prompt.
My submissions for Brew created fire breathing potions that I felt where more in line with the power lever of the Clue, Treasure, Food and Blood tokens.
Where the winner was a sack outlet that lets you search up your combo pieces.
Please understand this is not me wining or complaining! I agree with the Fair's judges that Pitlord’s Banquet is a amazing card and disserved the win, and in fact it helped me improve my idea for Brew into a new mechanic for Floramore.
Floramore is a plane where the lines between flora and fauna is blurred, for one something passes away upon the plane their entire being is adsorbed and becomes apart of the plane itself. This anthropomorphization of nature has extended into the magic itself, leading to emption being a powerful component of spell craft itself.
The witches of Floramore are those that have learned how to tap into darker emotions and weave them into powerful curses.
A tapestry of misery woven from the hairs of a single family. Ingredients taken from each home, stewed in a pot until it and the village boils overs. The name of a unfaithful lover and their betrothed carved onto the back of a coin, tossed into a dry well upon the harvest moon, to insure their fields are always bare.
The brew mechanic shows how the witches uses trinkets (clues/treasures), ingredients (food/blood) as well as the potions they Brew in their witch craft.
It also creates with very interesting Sultai eggs playstyle....
Where as Hex show the witches' taking a little bit of everything, parts of creatures, objects of importance, the magic of the fay and even bits of the land itself to create their Hexcraft.
This creates more of a traditional aristocrats playstyle of the sultai witches.
I'm not sure so I would love to hear you feed back?
Oh one last thing!
The witch above is actually a very important figure on Floramore, as the Beldam is said to be the eldest of all the witches. Legends of this witch stretches back before ink was put to paper, past down from one wives tale to another. It is said that the smoke of her chimney snatchers children in the night, and that she sees threw the eyes of every crow of the wicker woods,
It is said she knows thing no one else on the plane knows for into the socket of her missing eyes flows the past, the present and the future.
It was she who reached out to Marcel in his darkest hour. She who lead him to her cabin deep with in the wicker wood. Who spent the long hours of the night teaching him the darker arts of magic. Knowing she had only taught him enough to fail. Scattering the bread crumbs along a path that would lead to his sparking.
What kind of alternate art treatments would you want for your fan planes? :D
For Floramore I have two ideas!
The first is for the cards with Renown. They would receive grandiose baroque style paintings as their art with an ornate picture frame like border. I want it to be like this is a painting hung in the gallery of some noble, depicting some great figure in all their glory.
The other is for the card with Verdant. For those who don't know Verdant is a mechanic I came up with that when your creature die it returns to the battle field transformed, with the other side being a land. Usually a basic but some of the rare card might have unique lands on the other side.
The card art treatment for this cards would only be for the land on the back of the card and they would receive this lovely full art impressionism inspired card art by way of Monet. This is also the art treatment the full art basics of the set would receive.
I also have two ideas for Hyverta!
The first come from my love of Psychedelic music, they would be synesthesia cards. This would be cards depicting powerful spells and the art itself of the card would not change, but they would receive this overlay of color spiraling out from the magic. In colors depicting how the magic feels.
I also think it would be cool if the full art land would be like album covers?

Oh wow, not used to people actually bothering to send me a ask for my oc. Thank you very much Anon and I hope your having a good day.
8. What are your character’s most valuable items?
Growing up among the peasantry in the countryside, Marcel really did not have much growing up. But there is something from those days that Marcel still has that has great sentimental value to him, a looking stone given to him by his mother. A bit of colorful rock worn smooth by river waters with a hole in the middle, it is said that looking threw it will disperse illusions.
But if you are looking for something with more actual value that would be his Mox Diamond. It as a gift for Marcel's liege and father figure for his coming of age. Marcel was complete flabbergasted to receive something so valuable, and he hardly ever wore it.
10. What does your character do in their downtime?
Marcel is very new to the multiverse so when he can find the time to he enjoys just exploring. He has a little notebook with drawing and pressings of flowers from different planes, little notes scribbles around them about how he would uses them in perfumes and oils for his skin and hair. But when he has a few moments to himself the one thing Marcel loves to do is to cook. Recreating dishes from his homeplane to share with friends and loved ones. One of his comfort foods is a peasant dish from southern Floramore called a cassoulet. A dish of white beans stewed slowly with meat typically pork or duck but can include sausages, goose, mutton or whatever else the chef has lying around. Marcel find it is best enjoys next to a cozy harth in a lively tavern, late into fall, right after the hunting season.
26. How did their life shape your character’s hands look like, if they have anything resembling?
Wow this is a question and one I had to spend time thinking about. I feel as a child Marcel was that child with perpetually filthy hands cover in nicks and cuts from all his time spent exploring nature. But as he became a part of the noble court and was taught things like etiquette and manors he started to ware gloves to hide his nicked up finger from his life as a peasant. Even going as far as to remove those scares when he started learning healing magic, so his hands are well manicured, delicate and free of blemishes today.
30. How did your character obtain their magic or defining abilities?
As a child Marcel came to live within the enchanted forest of Floramore for a time, the ambient magic slowly changing him into one of the planes many fae like creatures. Using knowledge of healing herbs give to him by the faeries Marcel discovered he could draw upon the natural magic of this planes to brake fevers and cure infections. Already showing skills in magic when Marcel became the ward of a local Duke he was given tutors to teach him traditional white healing magic. Marcel would go on to combined everything taught to he to draw upon the ambient life force of nature to bolster his healing abilities.
So I know vampires are a big deal on Floramore, but does it also have werewolves? 👀 (also hi! I hope you’re doing well!)
Hi my friend I'm so sorry I just been in my own head for a while but other wise I'm quite alright, how are you?
You know I have honestly given this some thought!
The magic of Floramore is transformative in nature it draws power from the changing of the seasons, raw emotions and the phases of the moon.
So people changing into wolves and wolves changing into people happens all the time. This is a plane where finding out the little old lady from down the lane can change into a wolf to hunt down pheasants for her pies, is more of a interesting fact then something to be worried about. After all the bakers wife used to be a bear and the local shepherded just adopted a talking lamb.
So there is no werewolf creature type on Floramore, until the omen paths opened up.
I feel that most werewolves would be very welcomed into Floramore society there is one hiccup though. Their curse.
The dark side of Floramore magic is it curses born from dark emotions combined with the transformative nature of the worlds magic... I'm worried what it might do to werewolves given enough time.
Will they be consumed completely by the curse, becoming nothing more then a slathering nightmare beast or will the divide between man and beast become so great that the split into two separate beings?
Hello friendo and happy belated new year! Hope you’ve been doing well! Gonna try to get back into doing mtg fan stuff! Why not start with asking people questions?!
Do any of your fanplanes have a Valentines equivalent romance/general love-based holiday?
Hello friend and happy.... oh my god it June... so very sorry it took me so long to reply to this one, I have honestly been taking a brake from MTG stuff.
I was actually work on my Superhero for quite some time, it was a lot of fun coming up with new heroes, villas and ideas for the setting but I have circled back around to mtg recently.
And yes Floramore dose have a valentines equivalent holiday, the Fay Queen's Fest.
It takes place the week that winter finally gives way to spring, it is a celebration of the new year, new life, new love and new beginnings. But most importantly it is a celebration to chase away any darkness that may be lingering from Floramore's brutally bitter winters. As well as welcoming the fay back from their long hibernation.
The Fay Queen's Fest is more of a peasant festival and not largely participated by the aristocracy who tend to keep the fay at arms length.
During this time the small villages dotting the country side exploded in color as they are decorated from top to bottom in flowers. It is a time for merriment, feasting and most importantly weddings! Wedding are a big part of the Fest because it is believe that getting married at the Fest brings blessings upon the couple and village.
It is also the time when young lovers gives crowns of flowers with confession of love spoken with the language of the flowers to one another.
