6, 8 and 11 for the Magic ask game!
Howdy! :D Oooo a threefer! This may get answered in a couple reblogs because I got carried away looking at card frames xD
6.) Do you have a property you'd like to see a Universes Beyond release for? What kind of product are you envisioning for it?
Soooo I'm kinda luke-warm on UB with how it's been handled thus far. I do think I would like it more in certain circumstances tho. I think franchises that are already pretty fantasy-heavy already work best, especially if they have strong world-building so that not everything needs to be legendary. In my ideal world, UB would be premade commander-decks only so you could focus on a character and really build around them and tell their stories. That would, however, be a nightmare for IPs that have lots of popular characters, or for color-balancing in general. Or for IPs where they main character is one that a player makes a custom protagonist.
Ok, back to more answering the question. I think Dragon Age would be an interesting fit. Ironically this one I think would be harder to do commander decks only on tho xP I also the Zelda series could work as well. It would be fun it it focused on a single game, which might work for single decks, but probably not like a whole set. Personally my favorites are Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess so that would be neat.
8.) Do you have a favorite Special Card Treatment (foiling, frame, art style,...)?
This one is getting a reblog because I had a lot of fun looking at all the frames! So the pattern I noticed was I tend to really like the story-book style frame treatments. Bloomburrow, Eldraine, the human and werewolf Innistrad frames, and the stained glass of Dominaria stood out a lot. Big fan of all the constellation cards of Theros. Special mention to the Wanted poster frames.... they were cheesy and fun in the best way to me xD My controversial (?) faves were the Tarkir special treatments and Commander Masters treatments that really focused on profiles/closeups. I just thought those were a really neat way to highlight characters or flavor. (see reblog.... reblogs?.... for some of my faves I found while searching frames. Also I think it's possible I missed some frames)
Also I pretty much just love (almost) every special foiling we've gotten so far. Special mention to the galaxy foils tho :O Probably also the dragon fire one but idk if I've seen those in person.
11.) Is there a strategy or color you would want to get into but can't seem to figure out a way to make it work and/or make it fun for you?
I wanna make a mono-black commander deck soooooo baaaaaaad. Ok so I used to have a goal to make at least one commoner deck of every color combo but I gave up on that. I instead decided I at least wanted one of each of the mono-colors that really represent that color's philosophy, play-style, or my personal favorite thing about it. A few of these are not fully together but I've had versions of decks, or ideas for each color.... except mono-black. I don't know why but there just hasn't been a commander I've been excited for. A few have come out where I get excited for like 15 minutes and then I lose it. I hope someday to find my dream mono-black commander.
Thanks for the ask! It was fun to think about, especially the card-style question! :D (ps get ready for some pretty cards)
