I wanna share this cool moment with y'all.... December 2019, I was a broken soul, life was very heavy. I found out Rakim was gonna be in Boston and knew I needed that moment. I didn't care how I looked, all I wanted to do was hear Rakim speak and luckily he was about 5 mins from my house at the time. I went to @icaboston for @officialrakimallah book signing. I had a chat with the God for 10-15 mins after and this was the first result. Second result was that, I went home, opened Ableton and started writing "Call to the Ancestors" which came out on @repertoiresound Streetlight Volume 1 in 2020. 3rd result was healing and getting back to me, long journey but man that fog which surrounded me for so long is gone. So many changes from friends, to being happy single, my diet, my exercise habits... And it was in retrospect a quick interaction, but that was all I needed. The energy from this moment will forever stay with me as Rakim is a revolutionary. And being from NYC myself, a hip hop fan, junglist, DJ and producer, this was a dream come true and bucket list moment. As artists, our media has the potential to reach and change the lives of others. I choose to motivate, encourage, and fire up my supporters to their greatest potential in the same way this King did to me.
