-loving the idea of best friends! barry and bruce who hang out and gossip while their sons hang out. (they were expressly forbidden from calling it ‘a playdate’ by the kids)
-“did you hear about shayera and john?” barry casually tossed out, raising an eyebrow excited to spill the beans.
-“did you hear about mari and john?” bruce would counter, as they sat in Bruce’s office, hearing the kids run around.
-the thought this lil group growing as more hero’s get sidekicks.
-oliver was completely thrown off when he dropped off roy. he thought he would drop the kid off and head out, but never did he imagine he would be here with the speedster and the dark knight.
-“so oliver, what’s new with you lately?” barry would ask, trying to start the conversation, handing him a glass.
-“nothing much.” he responds, until he sees the blank faces bruce and barry are giving him, so he tries again
-“um. dinah and helena are in a bit of a feud and keep bringing me and question into it whenever our missions overlap?” he asks, hoping that’s more what they were looking for
-“i’m so glad you brought that up, cause i noticed that the other day—” barry then starts off with whatever gossip or scene he witnessed.
-and now oliver is fully invested. “wait, bruce you kissed cheetah?”
-bruce looks at clark, slightly offended, “it was for the mission oliver.”
-eventually the group drinks enough as they exchange gossip and stories about the kids
-“mine likes to swing off the chandeliers, any of yours do the same?”
-“no but i have to change my house locks cause mine keeps coming over and eating all my food.”
-when you walk into the manor, you were surprised that the loudest sound wasn’t coming from the kids, but rather the men.
-when you walk into the office, all three men cheered when they saw you, bruce giving you a grin, feeling more at peace knowing you were in the manor again.
-“woah, seems like you guys are the ones having a playdate huh?” you tease
-“not a playdate” all three men answered simultaneously, obviously having heard it enough from the children to receive such an instantaneous response
-“oh you’re right my bad,” you reply, a small smile on your face as you make your way across the room to bruce’s side as oliver and barry talk amongst themselves
-“you seem to be having a good time” you tell him as you brush a strand of his hair that’s started falling onto his face as you enjoyed to slow relaxed smile he gave you, his arm going behind you to support you as you sit on the edge of his chair
-“better now” he says, tapping your hip to say the unspoken ‘now with you here’
-“i’m glad.” you whisper back, your hand going to cup his face gently and rub your thumb by his eyes, enjoying the happiness that’s radiating from bruce. you caress gentle enough as if to say ‘happiness looks good on you’
-you both share a look that say so much more than either of you would say, even if barry and oliver are arguing about which hero duo is more popular with the public
-with a final caress, you stand up as you walk out, “okay gentlemen, i’ll leave you to it. i’ll trust you guys will behave? me and the kids are gonna be in the cave training if you need us.”
-you receive several noncommittal goodbyes as you step out, turning around before closing the door to call out one more time
-“barry? oliver? obviously the better duo is batman and robin.” you throw a wink to bruce before closing the door to the raised continued arguments between the mentors
a/n: i was working on wwwl rewrites and plots and had this thought so i had to get it out there
also: i know barry needs a lot to get drunk but it’s for the plot you know. also, bruce is a gracious host and absolutely has something that will get him drunk
i imagine them like bus stop moms. or you’re the guardian of the kid my kid likes to hang out with, and we slowly grew a friendship off gossip and storytelling
also there’s the fact that they’re constantly battling with the question of if they’re doing to right thing by these kids, and probably love a support group.
