They talk to her like she’s a fellow hero, even though she’s a kid, and it fills her heart with pride. They may not know it’s her, but they know her as a hero, like them. She’ll have to be content with just this. Lian’s testing her teleporter every moment she lingers.
“Anyway…” She swallows, forcing the lump in her throat down. She needs her voice to stay steady for just a few more seconds. “Nice team-up. See ya!”

Gotham has been a literal hell hole. the heat has been disgustingly unbearable. at the beginning of this heatwave your AC decided to give out. after many texts and emails that would go unanswered by your landlord. your boyfriend comes to your rescue.
luckily for you Jason is rich, by association, and very handy. he came over to fix the problem in a black tank top and faded black jeans. looking so delicious that you were a little upset for him to have to leave so early. like the angel he is, he brought you another AC unit for your bedroom, a really good and expensive one. he told you he would pay your electrical bill, (thank goodness). so to repay him you came up with a plan.
he never seemed to mind your love of Halloween, and there was so many videos putting you in the summerween mood. you had brown butter bourbon chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven (again thank goodness for your working AC), and had ordered 2 pizzas from yours and Jason's favorite spot. all you had to do was wait for Jason to come over.

the typos ensured that he would come by quick, and he has your location at all times so you don't have to answer him back with details. you checked on the cookies, and let them cool. you walked around the house and made some finishing touches, fixing the orange and purple fairy lights you put up. along with the bat and pumpkin decorations you put up. you heard your designated text notification, letting you knowJason got your message. you giggled to yourself.
i mean sure he would be a little bit worried but you don't think he will mind when he comes over to see your little surprise.
sure enough 10 minutes pass and Jason is knocking at your door, already sticking the key into your front door to open it. you stand by the entrance fixing your halloween pj's. he looks frazzled and has a wild look in his eye, automatically looking for danger.
"hiii Jay" you wave at him happy to see him. he scans the apartment.
"what's wrong?" his head tilts a little.
"nothing .. just missed you, and i wanted to hang out with you" his shoulders finally drop and he exhales deeply. still looking around to make sure you're really safe. closing the distance between you, holding your hips to bring you close to him. his strength surprising you. he pouts a little.
"well why didn't you just say that in your text?" he says lowly, you shrug your shoulders and bite your lip. you tug his shirt and scratch his abs. he gets the message, coming down to kiss you. before it can get deeper the bell dings, he looks at you confused.
"that's our pizza Jay" he makes a little noise unhappy to be pulled away from you so fast. he grabs his wallet and opens the door getting the pizza and paying way too much for 2 pizzas. you follow him to your kitchen.
"you put up your decorations early princess" you hug him from behind as he sets up some plates for you.
"i know, i just want this heat to be over and done with and for it to be fall already. i just wanna see horror movies with you and eat candy". you feel him exhale a low chuckle.
"we do that, all of the time already, and you have working AC now" you grumble. and sit across from him getting a slice of pizza.
"jayyy that's not the point okay, don't get all technical on me babe" you say and chew a slice of pizza. he just lovingly looks at you and grabs a slice himself.
you both sigh as you're eating, the pizza hitting the spot for the both of you. he looks over at you as he takes a comically big bite and winks at you as he eats it. you can't help but laugh at him.
he walks closer to you and you look up at him furrowing your brows. "may i kiss you now?" you bite your lip wanting to tease him a little.
"gross, while our lips are all greasy? not a chance lover boy" you finish eating, getting a tupper for the leftovers. Jason starts to grab the pizza box throwing it away for you. he washes his hands with you. he grabs a napkin, wiping his lips he grabs your face to wipe your lips too. his eyes look intensely to yours, you raise your eyebrow.
"can i now?" he whispers quietly inching closer to you. you nod no, kissing his palm instead and grabbing his hand to lead him to the couch.
"could you light that candle jay" you grab the remote making yourself comfy "also i have some pjs for you in my room if you want to change into something more comfy, or you could take your clothes off i don't really care". he rolls his eyes at your comment, he lights the candle for you and pads over to your room.
"seriously?" he says and you can't help but giggle at your choice in pajamas for him. you bought him a shirt with grimy letters 'zombie boy' and plaid pants.
"whattt? you are my zombie boy" he sits next to you with a huff you inch closer to him grabbing his jaw and kissing his cheek. "is it too insensitive?" he just nods no a small smile on his face.
"i should get you a shirt that says 'evil girlfriend' on it" you rolls your eyes. before you can say anything he kisses you, slowly.
"you love it when i'm mean to you" he blushes a little at that, and you laugh at his reaction. he gets the remote pressing play on the dvd you chose.
you get the bowl of popcorn and candy you had ready, and put the thin blanket over the both of you snuggling into Jason's beefy arm. he holds you closer to him kissing the top of your head and grabbing some popcorn.
"what movie did you pick?" he says lowly and relaxed.
"the monster squad, have you seen it?" you grab some sour candy.
"no never baby" you smile and give him some sour candy as well.
"i think you'll like it Jay" you say lightly chewing on the gummy candy.
"what flavor do you have?"
"cherry" he smiles and grabs your face.
"mm, i want some that's my favorite flavor" he grabs your chin, slipping his tongue into your mouth. kissing you slowly, to really taste the candy in your mouth. you make a small noise as he holds the back of your head lightly, keeping you where he wants, not that you're complaining. he pulls away and you chase his lips a little, out of breath. he just gives you a dazed smile happy with how you reacted. you just sigh dreamily pleased with how the evening is going.
