★ What was your favorite read of January? Or something you accomplished? Happy February, all!  I read (mostly by listening) 44 books in January, but apparently I only have physical copies of seven of them. My shelves are breathing a sigh of relief. 😅 34 audiobooks, 10 ebooks, and a number of them were novells. My reading was heavy on the romance, and mostly just vibes. I didn’t read anything off my TBR cart (it’s haunting the background of this photo like 😒), but I did read several other books off my backlist, and finished/binged some series! My favorite read of the month was Juniper Hill by @devneyperry (which USPS has so graciously lost my physical copy of 😩). It’s a small town, neighbors to lovers romance—he’s a chef, she’s a new mom and comes to work at his family’s hotel. Angsty, swoony, and so so good. My favorite fantasy read of the month was A Trial of Sorcerers by @elise.kova. Book two, A Hunt of Shadows, releases 3/1 and I am hype! My other 5 star reads of the month: - The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun (hilarious, swoony mlm romcom) - Claimed by Cupid by Dana Isaly (Nick and Holly are back in this kinky Valentine’s Day themed novella) - The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas (angsty af rivals to lovers w/ fake dating) - There Are No Saints & There is No Devil by Sophie Lark (rival serial killers are obsessed with the same woman! there are no good guys in this book, and that’s the best part) And, the series I finished/binged: - The Ravenels & Wallflowers series by Lisa Kleypas (and I started the Hathaways series!) - Blueblood Vampires series by Michelle Hercules - Lark Cove series by Devney Perry - Cursebreakers series by Brigid Kemmerer (I *finally* read Vow, I am counting it) + I’m *almost* finished with the Beautiful Bastard series by Christina Lauren (I read seven of them in Jan, including novellas!) Review: I loved this series!! I can't wait to drive into the other Grishaverse novels (especially King of Scars!). I heard that most people were disappointed in this book, and I'll admit, there were some story elements that made me go "huh," but after sitting on them for a bit, I think they work. I was a really satisfying conclusion, didn't really leave anything to the imagination, but I was good with that. Overall, this is a really strong series and definitely a new favorite!

September 2: Last 5 Star Read Finally caught up to all the hype and finished A Court of Thorns and Roses! And then promptly ordered the rest of the series. But yeah, I could gush about these books and this world forever, but I’ll sum up. I always forget how much I love Karen M. McManus’ books until I read one. I always get so wrapped up in the world and her writing, and I will continue to read every book she puts out!

Oh Mrs Christie, my first literally love, the empress of crime, you did it to me again. I thought I knew but I was wrong and the little Belgian detective outwitted me. Loved loved loved. After a bunch of just okay books this is what i needed. This book is a hilarious accounting of daily doses of racism that Black women have to deal with. Sometimes, you have to laugh about it to keep from crying. I listened to the audiobook and it was AMAZING 10/10 RECOMMEND because listening to Amber sing the song she uses to wake up her dad from a nap was hilarious, among other things. Did I also get the Kindle book from the Libby app, so I could see the photos they were describing? Yes, yes I did. The anecdotes are sometimes horrifying because let's face it racism is awful.
