Elisabeth. She was, in a word, the Soul of Rage.
Her palm-sized square alarm clock had a Post-it note stuck across its face, with the following sentence written on it:
‘They always piss you off with their prejudiced, contemptible words—completely shameless, even steeped in a kind of certainty.’
Every morning when the alarm rang, she would turn it off and read that sentence repeatedly. The more she read it, the more rage surged through her, snapping her eyes open. Then she’d leap out of bed and launch into a furious run on a treadmill, driven by that burning rage.
