OKAY SO. jasico fwb band au.

their band name is Fade Into the Grave (THANKS CJ FOR THE BAND NAME HELP), I haven't quite decided on their exact sound yet/im bad at genres in general,,,, but generally they're post-hardcore. bands im taking inspo from for their sound are like, dance gavin dance (lyrics from dgd's song Man of the Year is where i got the band name from), movements, get scared, ERRA, pierce the veil (and more.... heres the link to the playlist if u want it :3)

band lineup is: nico, harsh vocals and guitar (screamo nico my beloved). percy, clean vocals and guitar. thalia, clean & harsh vocals, and bass (voice claim is lauren babic. 2 me). jason, backup vocals and drums. tho. i am considering switching nico to bass and thalia to guitar. we shall see.

set up for the fic: after a couple songs on their previous album kinda blew up outta nowhere, their label is putting the pressure on to get their new album out asap to ride that wave. nico is relatively fresh out of a really abusive relationship, but he didn't actually tell anyone how bad it was. people just know his ex was a dick and controlling.

since hes out of that relationship, he's doing his best to rekindle his other relationships, specifically with jason. his ex was super jealous, and wouldn't let nico hang out with jason except for like, band things/group situations so they arent as close as they used to be. this is partly bc jasico used to casually hookup, but stopped when nico started dating, and his ex was extremely jealous, thus, the not letting nico hang out with jason.

nico's ex did a lot of damage to his mental health and general self esteem, but nico does know that he feels safe when he's with jason. he thinks that, jason, of course, would never be romantically into someone as awful and horrible as nico (go to therapy bro), so he asks jason if they could start their fwb thing again, partially so he can gain some agency in sex again. like i said, nico feels safe with jason, so he feels like this a good way to help him get back into his old confidence/being comfortable with sex (though, he isnt very clear to jason about this coming from a place of working thru his trauma).

jason, well. he has been in love with nico for years, so he says yes. he knows its unhealthy, but he will take anything nico will give him at this point. hes just happy him and nico can be close again :,)

so the plot of the first half arches over them producing the album, both of them separately writing like, fleetwood mac level of angsty romance songs about each other (they keep their hooking up secret from the rest of the band but are. horrifically bad at it, so like. percy and thalia absolutely know smth is up and are side eyeing the hell outta them the whole time). and then the second half of the plot covers their tour, where. well. i put them directly into the torture vortex. jason finds out the hard way, just how bad nicos ex was.

tidbits about the characters i wasn't able to fit above:

nico experienced homelessness as a kid, until eventually sally took him in. he quotes her as literally saving his life. this also means percy is Super Protective of nico bc thats his little brother!!!

nico doesn't have any tattoos but he has sO many piercings. including a prince albert.

nico ALSO likes to wear corpse paint, which jason finds, very unfairly attractive. im taking inspo from this art that significantly contributed to converting me into a jasico lover LMAO
