And now on the opposite end of the spectrum compared to last time, I have the simplest one possibly ever. Give Billy a star gather and literally nothing else. There’s plenty I COULD give him, of course, for example I was thinking about a defense or Quick resist down on command cards for (5 times, 2 turns) to be an archer version of Jing Ki’s rank up so to speak, but 2 turns instead of 3 thus requiring a literal luck of the draw. It’s also based on how gunslingers would only keep 5 bullets loaded to keep the hammer on an empty chamber, which is why a classic old western thing was to show a shootist manually moving the barrel one chamber over when preparing a shot.

But that’s going past my original intent of these rank ups, that being above all else fixing kits with glaring issues because the actual devs sure as hell never try to do that. And Billy’s kit is actually pretty good as is with the glaring flaw of being a 1 turn crit burst servant who…has no star gather. Like wtf. The rest of his kit fits perfectly. Marksmanship has such absurd scaling that it can justifiably stay at 5 turn cooldown, Quick Draw is Quick Draw, IE fantastic on its own and juuuust reason enough to not further buff his mediocre NP, and Minds Eye having a 3 turn crit boost is good design that means you can use it for survivability but still stack it with Marksmanship a turn or two later. What I’m saying is Billy’s kit works as is and buffing it any further is taking this from Hypothetical Rank Ups to Fantastical Rank Ups, because he needs one fix rather than actually be brought up to match powercreep.

…Obviously I still had to put SOME spin on it, though. You’ll notice it said “Significantly Increase.” Quick Maths! If you know how Star Gather and Star Weighting works, skip to the end! That’s because of how Star Gather scaling works in FGO, specifically because of different class weightings. Star Weight refers to the inherent star gather rate of servants, which is dictated by class (with very slight variations) with Archers being tied with Foreigners for the second highest base star weight of 150 (Riders have 200). This is why Gilgamesh’s pretty damn strong star gather gather maxes out at 600%, while even at a maximum of 3000% IE literally 5x as much, DJ Nobu’s doesn’t even come close and in fact generally has one of the least useful star gathers in the game in terms of raw star weight. This is because as a berserker it’s still scaling off of a base of 10. This is also why to make Raikou’s actually effective enough to give her the chance to make use of her crit boosts, her star gather STARTS at 3k and scales all the way to SIX thousand, which is STILL <66% of Gil’s max.

This is all a long winded way of giving context to how overkill it is that by “Significantly” I mean the level 1 star gather is 500% and the maximum at level 10 is 5000%. It wont matter what other gather skills are active that turn, if Billy decides he wants to crit that turn, he’s gonna crit that turn.

I remember that Kadoc's voice actor said he preferred Musashi over Anastasia as a girlfriend. Then, in this scene, Musashi's type is Billy the Kid 😂.
