#latergram from earlier today. I’m still working on building the #running back up, very slowly. The #kneeinjury is getting better but there is a limit on how long I can go, and that bar is very low right now. After I hit that limit it starts to hurt again. Today, 15 minutes. A few days ago it was only 10 minutes, so that’s progress. One baby step at a time right now. Good thing I’m in no particular hurry. And I am staying diligent about my strength work, doubling up on #corestrength work. #runblr #injuredrunner #fallrunning #injuryrehab (at Mantua, Virginia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CIcJMJ2nozt/?igshid=1ehaz1k6qe8ga

LONGEST RUN OF MY LIFE! EVER!!!!!
i am so proud of myself for getting to this point. the run started off cloudy and windy and i really regretted my outfit choice but it finished sunny and warm (relatively) so in the end the outfit worked out! fueling went well, i am so team fuel your runs (before during and after 😇) and no digestive issues occurred at all! however, you may notice an issue around mike 8….my achilles started acting up out of nowhere and i did a lot of walking and stretching that mile. i’m not really sure where it came from and i’m hoping it was a fluke because i feel nothing walking now…fingers crossed. despite that little blip i am so stoked and proud of myself. 🥰
something special about november runs, it’s not as vibrant as october but there’s something about the golds and the browns and the rusts, the breeze that carries hints of winters chill. running let’s me connect with the seasonality of the place i live more than anything else i’ve ever experienced.
extraordinarily proud of myself for this one specific run (my first ever double digits run (first of many i hope)) as well as my commitment and grit to this entire training cycle. when i started 5 miles felt like a long run and i honestly couldn’t imagine running 7 miles, let alone 13. no matter what i’m coming out of this training cycle with total pride and appreciation for my body.
that being said, there was almost no part of this run i enjoyed. i was anxious the whole time that my achilles would flare up (it did not). i’m back home for thanksgiving but my parents were away this weekend and i became acutely aware that if i was halfway out on my run and my achilles flared up i would have to walk 5 miles home with no one to pick me up. but the good news is this did not happen! also lately my shoes have been bugging me, it’s felt like my feet are sliding around and i can’t get the lacing right, either too loose or too tight (i also think this is a part of my anxiety, i have a hard time letting things go and overfixating on them and trying to fix them and then making them worse). i felt like i did a good job keeping the run slow and chill but i really struggled the last 2 miles. the last mile especially i stopped to walk like three times but i listened to frank sinatra and that really pumped me up!
i am gladly entering my taper (yay). i think at this stage i am looking at a 2.5 hour half marathon, which tbh i kind of wish i could do faster, but just being realistic at my capabilities. but we’ll see! truly will just be stoked to finish it :)
