"Intersex is an Abnormality."

Following that logic, we could also label blue-eyed or red-haired people as "abnormalities," and stereotype blondes as unintelligent.

This is reminiscent of a time when Black people were considered abnormal and underdeveloped, fueled by stereotypes claiming they were barely more intelligent than apes.

People become so fixated on their perceptions of what is "normal" and what is "not" that anything differing from their self-imposed reality is seen as an abnormality. They attempt to "correct" it, to force it to fit into their world, saying, "We're just trying to help; after all, this world isn't designed for people like you." But you are the ones who designed it this way! Open your eyes and realize that we are diverse! Stop projecting your binary notions onto intersex individuals!

Okay so there’s not actually strong community consensus here, but that’s mostly because FAGAB/FASAB labels aren’t widely used.

But as a general guideline, if you are intersex and the treatment was a thing that, as an adult, would require your consent before a doctor could do it (or I guess that would require the violent suspension of your rights due to disability, race, etc), then it counts.

This can include, but is not limited to:

Some types of Cognitive Training or forced skills training

Medical Treatments like HRT

Nonsurgical medical procedures

All surgeries

If it was something forced on you, to make you more normal according to perisex beliefs, then that’s enough for me, and for most people in my experience.

That said, I always encourage people to be careful when first identifying with the “forced” labels, because it sort of... makes it very open and obvious that you were the subject of violent medical malpractice, and even if you don’t think you have trauma surrounding it, you may come to find that being more open about it eases repressions you’ve built up over time and you begin experiencing delayed traumatic reactions.
