Beetles and weevils pt 3

There were many good things about my birfday. For the first time in years I had no obligations, it didn’t fall on Father’s Day, and it was a sunny, warm day. The S.O. bought me an amazing pasty (I like the traditional, he likes the pork and apple), and later we crammed so much conveyor belt sushi into our gullets that it was hard to walk. We came home to recover watch Black Mirror and discovered that the swallowtail caterpillar we’re rearing has gone into its cocoon, so butterfly incoming soon!

But the highlight of the day was getting free tickets to the Science Museum and being able to spend all the time I wanted at the Exquisite Creatures exhibit by Christopher Marley. His work is extraordinary--all the creatures are real and ethically sourced--and he seeks to show the diversity and monstrous beauty of the natural world and ask poignant questions about how we experience it.
