Hello. I just want to say that your latest post in your ex muslim tag really resonates with me. It's this crushing feeling where you can't blame your loved ones but you can't support them either. The guilt that if I were to come out to them as an ex muslim, they would die of heartbreak, because they want to save me. They don't want me to be tortured for eternity so they are going to hopelessly try to get me back. This is so.... sad for everyone involved.
Sorry for the sour ask! I hope you have a great day!
No anon don’t apologise!! I’m sorry you had to resonate with it honestly the feeling sucks ass.
I’m very lucky in that in college I made friends who accepted me saying I’m not religious at face value and didn’t make me justify myself, even though they’re Muslims as well.
Can we please stop spreading the myth that Christianity is a white religion? White Americans and Europeans make up a minority of the entire global Christian population. Discussions and critiques of Christianity that fail to acknowledge this continue to perpetuate white supremacy and white exceptionalism, and erases not only history but a large demographic of people that exist to this day.

One thing people don't understand about evangelicals is that it is an integral part of their belief system to "convert" others.
Evangelicals do not believe that their liberty ends where yours begins. They often do not see a problem with a degree of pushing beliefs onto others. The "others can have cookies when you're on a diet" reasoning does not work on them, because they believe that they are morally superior for dieting and their restriction of cookies from everyone else is to make the others as 'virtuous' as them. They believe that their god, and by extension, them, knows what's good for people in a way nobody else can, including science and logic. (This is also why so many of them fall for moral panic and conspiracy theories.)
They think they're literally commanded by a deity to spread the religion and get people to convert; the end goal of Christian evangelicalism is literally a "voluntary" theocracy.

my [catholic] priest once said "we're just learning to be better lovers" and "you can and will find a woman you love." when I told him I was queer. so there is hope. there is always hope. I believe people are inherently good sometimes, they just get misled.
in the end, it was my desire to be authentic and honest that led me to finally walk away from it all. i could stay in religion and continue lying to myself and everyone around me (and god, presumably), or i could tell the truth and live in alignment with my internal world and thoughts. i was taught to be truthful. i finally was.
but still they will fault me for it.
In October, I officially left any remnants of my old life behind and moved to Boston. Graduation had been a whirlwind of chaos and confusion and between my constant existential dread and apartment panic, I ended up in a place I’ve truly been able to call my home. I funded this website, got a team to
Hey! I know it’s been awhile, but there’s a new post on our official website. Just some thoughts I’ve had on being in a new place in my life. How the words that once flew out of me have slowed as I put the years between myself and my deconversion. How I realized I was moving towards and no longer away from.
