I love how Evemer and Kadou are such different people but they're so motivated by the desire to be Good, like the almost obsessive desire to be Good, but they go about it in different ways. Kadou tries to be Good through self recrimination and anxiously weighing himself and actions against Goodness and devaluing himself. Evemer does it through trying to obey the rules to the upmost extent possible because of course the rules are Correct and by doing the rules he can be Good, by following orders he can be Good. And it's cute to see them learn from each other ways to be good that are a little more conducive to happiness and their own well-being

Tadek calling Evemer "honeybee" unironically is THE BEST. Him being so bratty at the beginning but then becoming bffs with both the boys is hilarious. I disliked him soooo much at the beginning, but now I'm dying and wanting him in every other scene that isn't just Evemer and Kadou

I just finished A Taste of Gold and Iron and I can’t stop imagining Evemer dragging Kadou to a chess board any time something happens. Like Kadou just woke up and Evemer is herding him towards the chess board before he even gets his coffee just to see how the absence of coffee affects the game. I bet he wanted to play after one of their near death experiences. This man is ridiculous.
