Episode 134: Peter and Michael’s Wedding Day (Part 2)
The first guests are Xander and Bella. Pauline unfortunately had to send her apologies for today, as she has to stay home to look after her daughter. She caught a virus at kindergarten. "Wow, in white, I wouldn't have guessed that." Xander was amazed by Michael's outfit. At his own wedding to Pauline, he wore something simple in black. "I just wanted to stand out from the crowd, haha."
VJ has also been invited to the wedding. "Sorry, Micha, but I couldn't find anything better to wear at short notice. Lisa often has a habit of putting everything somewhere else."/ "Hehe, that's just typical female behavior, isn't it?" said Michael, who understood his frustration. Meanwhile, Bella was talking to Peter and praising his outfit to the skies.
A little later, after Peter and Michael had thanked some of the guests for coming and offered them a few drinks, they didn't want to wait any longer. At least that's how it was for Peter; he kept looking around, but his parents still hadn't shown up. So he decided to start the ceremony without them. "Well then, let's go, boys, you've waited so long!"
The two of them walked over to the arch, weaving between the chairs and the guests, each vying for the best seat. "Won't you rather wait, Peter? I wouldn't really forgive myself if…" Peter looked at his friend seriously. He knew what he meant, but he still didn't want to wait any longer for his parents. "They knew exactly when the appointment was. So let's please start now…" Instead of Peter's parents, Pauline arrived at the celebration after all. She must have found a babysitter who could look after little Djamila for a few hours.
The two of them began the ceremony and, for a moment, completely blocked out everything around them. Michael was determined to start with his vows. “I found you when the world lay in ruins. From the silence after the storm, you taught me to breathe again. We saw darkness and created light within it…”
"Today I promise you: Never again will you have to walk through shadows alone. I would hold you when everything falls, and build with you what remains - again and again, always anew." Peter was quite taken aback by Michael's words. He hadn't expected anything so poetic. Then it was his turn to give his wedding vows.
“Michael… I saw in you that love is more than happiness. It is courage, it is struggle, it is homecoming. You were my anchor when everything came crashing down around us. Today I promise you: I will walk with you through every fire, through every night and every new beginning. With you, I want to shape the future—not perfectly, but true.”
Peter breathed a sigh of relief after he had spoken his words. “Oh man, that really took some courage to write down all that kitsch.” Michael laughed at this and could easily understand his partner’s feelings. "As long as this kitsch is meant seriously, it's not so bad, hehe" / "Yes, that's true… So… Now?" / "Yes, now finally kiss each other, you two," several people were heard shouting from the crowd.
It was the first time Michael and Peter had kissed in front of a large crowd. Until then, they had been rather reserved in public, holding hands, hugging, or exchanging kind words. Intimacy was something they only enjoyed behind closed doors. Today, none of that mattered; they wanted everyone to see how happy they were.
Of course, such an important day wouldn't be complete without the best part: the wedding cake. The two had searched for a long time for something that wasn't so typical for a wedding. After all, it's not every day that a male couple gets married. And since they wanted to have a black and white wedding anyway, the idea of a simple cake in the same colors came at just the right time.
During the meal, everyone talked about Michael and Peter and their lovingly crafted wedding vows. "How did you even come up with this idea, Michael?". Michael paused for a moment, then looked at Ethan with a smile. "The past provided me with some inspiration. At some point, it just poured out of me…"
Besides the cake, what's absolutely essential at a wedding is the couple's first dance. That is, if you can actually dance. Michael was a little unsure about some of the steps… "Oh man, this is embarrassing! Couldn't we have learned something hip-hop-like, like the people in all those videos?" / "You don't actually think you would have done that yourself, do you?" / "No - not really." / "Well then, turn around, handsome."
“See, we don’t have to jump around the dance floor like crazy, it works just fine at a slower pace…”/ “Yeah, okay, okay. And… when do we send the guests home?”/ “Are you going to disappear into the bedroom already?”/ “Hmm, no, it was just a question… Thank you.”/ “Thank you for what?”/ “For this day…”/ “You’re welcome. In good times and in bad… I’ll always be there.” Peter thought at that moment that this was a sentence that could have been included in the wedding vows. But at that moment, one was simply too excited to think clearly. The important thing was to get the ring on the finger with trembling hands.
While the celebration wound down outside with a long dance, inside they chatted a little more about what had just happened. "They're really happy now, aren't they?"/ "Yes, at least everything looks pretty good, hn"/ "Who do you think will be exchanging rings next?"/ "Hm, no idea… But we'll surely find out sometime."
It was late when the last guest finally went home. Shortly after 11:00 p.m., Michael and Peter said their goodbyes to the others and went to bed. Did the two of them take advantage of their wedding night? Well, only they know that. Peter was also lost in thought. He wondered, in particular, why his parents hadn't shown up. Although his sister was at the celebration, it would have been important to have his parents there as well, wouldn't it? He definitely wanted to talk to them about it. But for now, let's leave this house and see how everyone else is doing.
