🖥️ Gameplay style

My preference for mods & rules can be best described as "uncomfortably realistic" (but still balanced; not excessively tedious). My game usually simulates living in the United States under late stage capitalism, with upward mobility being extremely challenging, while the Sims in the higher tax brackets have expanded opportunities to keep getting richer in legal (and less than legal) ways. I like using the Sims to explore and work through my frustrations, rather than escape, and my modded game reflects this. Having grown up with The Sims 1, I do enjoy the humor that arises from juxtaposing our cruel real world societies with the inherent goofiness of The Sims. I love searching for those cozy, funny, fluffy moments in between the stress of my Sims' lives.

I think Xander is often shirtless in his house because he has no AC and it's hot in the summer... Or maybe he ran out of clean clothes.

I was giving Xander a CAS and BB makeover... I didn't want to change too many of his outifts though. I noticed the bed + end table + lamp he brought from home all look like furniture his parents bought from when he was a kid that he never changed out. Well, it's a perfectly good bed... Why spend money on a new one...

The same can be said for some of his EA clothes. I can't bring myself to change his underwater/fish design boxers!

Up next I’m going to attempt some more scripted story content. This is very much a casual hobby for me so if it’s too hard I might just call it off or be inconsistent with the format. 😅

I’m just very excited to share what’s been going on with Xander, and everything his parents don’t know about, and think it could be a good chance to practice visual storytelling.

I have no plans to start or continue a long running story, but I like the idea of shorter one offs to flesh out the lives of these Sims and my headcanons, or retell things that have actually happened (so when I’m playing I’m not busy taking cinematic style screenshots!).

It’s not even Xander’s fault that he doesn’t have a laundry machine at home yet has a laundry hamper. Because I put it there. It is a sure fire way to doom inactive sims to a nasty home.

The toilet though…
