I had the joyous surprise of re-making the acquaintance of ”Husani,” my former neighbor’s African Black Parrot. I was deeply moved by his grasp on a pen and the power of his one eye…an epiphany on why writing is one of my storytelling mediums.
Until now I hadn’t taken the time to analyze the depth of one parrot eye over two human eyes. It’s soul-penetrating—one pupil that doesn’t move, but you sense the omnipresence of it’s gaze. It’s as if the eye sees all and challenges me to tell the story with maximum efficiency:
1. Word count
2. Clarity
3. Average time needed to process and “get it!”
4. Shortest time needed to process and “get it!”
5. Metrics on #3 & #4
So now that I am clear on my structural goals of my stories, as a writer, I also have to craft and share the social and spiritual goals of my literary exposes. I appreciate the time anyone takes to read my writing and welcome all feedback.
