It's hard for me to go out in public. More so lately because I'm in a worsening autistic burnout. This means I'm more sensitive to things like light, sound, people, etc. I'm not wearing a hat and pink glasses to be cool or disguise myself. Light is painful to my eyes. Not just because of autism. I also have glaucoma and since September have been dealing with an autoimmune condition causing iritis and episcleritis. If you happen to see me I'd appreciate it if you could please not comment on my red eyes or my hat and sunglasses. The sunglasses are pink because they're an FL-41 tint to help with migraines. I hate pink but they work. #autistic #autisticlife #iritis #uveitis #episcleritis #glaucoma #glaucomaawareness #autoimmunedisease #autoimmune #photophobia #autism #autismawareness #migraine #fl41glasses https://www.instagram.com/p/CmNscmKrrH-/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Episcleritis (left) and scleritis (right) are inflammations of the protective outer layers of tissue that are covering the eyeball.
While episcleritis (inflammation of the episclera) is usually a minor disorder that does not permanently damage the eye, scleritis (inflammation of the sclera) is a less common but more serious condition. It often occurs in association with an underlying systemic or autoimmune disorder.

Welcome to Advice Spork
"Take my advice, I'm not using it."
Welcome to my personal blog about being me at this stage of life - which is:
having fibromyalgia and a host of other related (?) health concerns and queries, including iritis, episcleritis and scleritis
having a new job and how I handle this with the above
having a son in his last year of high school
carving out a creative social life
being quite interested in design, especially my own little dwelling
being beautiful inside and out in my almost 50s.
As my previous post says, I'm hoping to turn this into it's own website someday, but for now I'm enjoying tumblr, especially the social aspect of it. I'm still a bit in love with social media. You can also find me on facebook, twitter (@AdviceSporky, can you believe a creative name like Advice Spork was already taken?) pinterest and gmail.
Episcleritis
common condition, doesn't progress to scleritis
red eye, usually painless (may have mild dull ache)
localised, sectoral episcleral injection
non-tender globe with normal vision, no discharge
diagnosis - blanches with topical vasoconstrictors
management - usually self limiting, may offer topical NSAIDs, review after 1/52. Often recurrent.
