A final statement handwritten by Christopher Newton prior to his execution. Newton received the lethal injection for strangling his 27 year old cellmate, Jason Brewer, to death after an argument over a game of chess.

On 14th June 2001, 31 year old Olaf Däter’s 10 day reign of terror in the German city of Bremerhaven was finally brought to an end. Labelled as  “Oma-Mörder” (”Granny-Killer”) by the local media, Däter fatally suffocated 5 elderly women between June 5th-14th, using his former occupation as a gerontological nurse to gain trust and subsequent access to his victim’s homes. Also using obesity to his advantage, he would apply his entire body weight to the ageing women with the aim of crushing them to death, although post-mortem examinations failed to identify the severe internal injuries suffered and instead wrongly determined that the first four victims had died due to natural causes. The apprehension of Olaf Däter only occurred due to his failed attempt at murdering a sixth victim, who survived her ordeal and was able to report the attack to authorities. Upon being questioned by police, Däter confessed to the previous killings and admitted that financial instability was the underlying incentive to committing the crimes, as he’d planned to steal from the elderly women after leaving them for dead, although he never managed to succeed in doing so due to various interruptions. In November 2011, Olaf Däter was found guilty of the murders and was sentenced to life imprisonment as a convicted serial killer.

Police pictures taken inside the apartment of German serial killer Fritz Honka, who killed at least four sex workers in Hamburg in the early 70s. Besides the mummified remains of three of his victims, investigators found a large amount of hard liquor, dolls, more than 300 pornographic pictures, and pictures of pinup-girls which were covering the walls and the ceiling.
