episode 154: Godland, Skypiea! Angels On a Beach of Clouds!
i like how the Express Lobster just completely fucks off after his job is done. i envy him. Though interestingly enough, the Crunchyroll description describes him as a speedy shrimp. he certainly looks more lobster-y to me.
DID USOPP LEARN NOTHING??? FEET FIRST!
the poor South Bird! traumatized by flying way too high in the air with a bunch of lunatics!!!
luffy once again has the survival instincts of a dead sloth, but i do kinda love how dorky he looks here with the square teeth. very early 2000s cartoon network.
i can't tell if the angel thing is just... like a bit. or if they're actually angels and it's all real.

i kinda like her design tbh, whether she is a real angel or not. the antenna things are weird i guess, but her little dress is cute, and i like the pattern. it also looks like she has actual stuff on her to hold the harp in place, which i appreciate a lot both from a design and worldbuilding perspective, since so many others shows/etc just have items magically float/ inexplicably hold on. suu is also cute.
i personally find this scene funny because, presumably, these cloud people use the wavers a lot, so why is this old man so bad???
nevermind lol. looks like they're just hard to control.
actually great nami moment! love that she is smart and capable enough to handle one of these things.
another good bit of worldbuilding here! of course a society who lives in the sky would have a cloud factory thing. it's great that they make a distinction between natural and manmade clouds too, which means there will definitely be some cool cloud stuff ahead. i'm guessing cloud palaces or something big.
there will 100000% be shenanigans/ tomfoolery with these shells in the very near future.
i like how the dials are incorporated here, using them as normal everyday things. and it works because they're sky islands, which makes the reefs/ water motif mesh super well. good job oda, lots of good lore stuff here that just works.
big G as in God. that's very very ominous, and considering how big those trees are, even more so. god is a giant (maybe from elbaf!)
