Twice Nami could have saved her ass if only she denounced her crew and her captain. And twice, she chose her nakama over her safety:
1. Skypiea
2. Wano
Now can we stop saying that Nami is selfish and disloyal?

I just reminded myself that I've actually saw a post once (not sure where) that said they (the poster) believed that OPLA is just gonna (and should) skip Skypeia because of it, I kid you not, not being an important arc and because of the 'indigenous tribe's being oppressed and having their land stolen by foreigners', not unlike what happened to Native Americans getting their land stolen by white settlers.
Like...what the fack????
First off, Skypeia is an important arc.
The introduction of dials, which become key components for Nami's upgraded Clima-Tact and Usopp's Kabuto in Enies Lobby.
The Going Merry receiving significant amounts of damage that would render her unfit to sail any further (plus Usopp seeing the Klabautermann) when they reach Water 7
Robin discovering the Poneglyph (which mentions Poseidon) and the fact Roger was in Skypiea.
While Haki was more-or-less shown already in OPLA (as seen with Shanks and Garp), Observation Haki (called Mantra by the Sky Islanders) is more prominent here.
All the money the crew managed to get at Water 7 was from the gold they managed to get from Skypiea.
Really, this arc helps buildup to events happening in Water 7
Luffy's role as a liberator is first put on a grander scale here.
Second, its not like the Gaimon story, which only lasted one chapter. Very, very, veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery small compared to Skypiea arc's 66 chapters (85 when including the Jaya arc).
And third, so what the story arc references one of the worst parts of early American history? It's not the first time it happened (be it in fiction or real life). Events like this is often retold in stories about oppression and segregation and how to overcome it.
It's like the whole thing with IGN saying some bull that Resident Evil 5 won't (and shouldn't) get a remake because of racial concerns...even though it wasn't even the first game where a location outside of Raccoon City (outside of the USA) was deeply affected by the world of bioterrorism (Resident Evil 4 taking place in Spain).
To even think about scrapping a story like this (and basically ignoring the bad side of us as a species) feels more harmful.
Just because its a dark/depressing subject matter in American history doesn't mean it should never be talked about.
I loved these sm cause look at the girls!! 🥹
And
Mmmmmm Wiper... 🤤

Ou shiii 👀👀👀
Episode 155 of one piece has a funny interaction being Luffy upon hearing about the island where god lives says “there’s actually a god!?” Which implies that Luffy did not believe in god but all it took to convince him was one person saying there was
