On This Day OTD This Day In History, 39 years ago, on February 22, 1986, Manila Archbishop Jaime Cardinal Sin makes an urgent appeal to Filipinos to go to the vicinity of Camp Aguinaldo to protect then-defense minister Juan Ponce Enrile and then-Armed Forces of the Philippines Vice Chief of Staff Fidel Ramos where both officials were holed up after withdrawing support for then-President Ferdinand Marcos leading to EDSA People Power Revolution culminating on February 25, 1986, ending his 20-year rule.

JUST IN: Former senator Juan Ponce Enrile is in critical condition in the ICU with slim chances of surviving, according to Sen. Jinggoy Estrada.

Estrada says Enrile has pneumonia.

The Sandiganbayan acquitted former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, his former chief of staff Jessica Lucila “Gigi” Reyes, and detained businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles of 15 graft charges in connection with the alleged diversion of P172.8 million of his pork barrel funds, clearing all criminal complaints against the 101-year-old presidential legal counsel. The ombudsman’s prosecution panel failed to prove all the elements of the charged crime.

A brand new Bridge that was just completed recently collapsed before it could be used in Barangay Alibago, Enrile, Cagayan, prompting the Mayor of Enrile, Miguel Decena Jr. to call for an immediate meeting with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Mayor Decena claimed that he had already filed a Case against the Bridge Project before, but it was dismissed. He is now asking the DPWH to reveal its Feasibility Study and Detailed Engineering Design (DED) for the Bridge.

To add to the Controversy, the Site where the Bridge was constructed was supposed to be in a "No Build Zone" of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
