Catching up from my twitter here is a BNHA sona/oc I made. Their name is Mariko Madoka also known as Empuppy! Their quirk is Empathic Absorption. They can absorb negative emotions from everyone in the nearby vicinity and then use that energy to launch psychic type blasts.Â
Mariko is generally a very relaxed and even shy student. They admire their classmates and want success for everyone. They understand stress and tough times come with being a hero but they will do anything to ease those heavy emotions.
The strengths of their power is that when they absorb a negative emotion it is taken from a person. So if someone is feeling stress, anger, sadness, embarrassment etc. they’ll suddenly have that feeling sucked right out of them. Its great for calming folks down when they’re in a bad emotional place. However it doesnt stop them from having more negative emotions later. The more negative emotions absorbed the more powerful Mari becomes. They tend to be well suited for conflicts because they can absorb the tension on the battlefield. Funnily enough they actually hate conflict.
However whatever emotion they absorb they start to feel so Mari has to be careful not to let others’ emotions become their own. If they absorb too much negative energy they can become a ticking time bomb so they need to be sure to expel the negative energy before they reach that point. The good thing is once expel all the negative emotions they will be back to normal.
Mari takes measures to deal with their quirk. They regularly attend therapy and have a few different coping methods to help them when they are holding in the negative emotions. They have a collection of gemstones, particularly ones supposed to help with calming. Mari doesnt necessarily believe that stones have healing powers but it works like a placebo, plus gems are pretty and feel nice to hold. Also they listen to a lot of different music, some happy to lift their spirits, some sad or angry for catharsis.
