I think on the inside, Azriel is very disturbed from the fact that he who longed for a mate the longest is still alone, and his brothers who didn't, are now mated and brothers-in-law to each other.

Probably see her mating bond as issue that they will over come, like Rhys and Feyre come over Tamlin, or how Cas and Nes over came her depression.
I think Az is a very grey character, there is a reason why he is know as the sadist. The abuse as a child, his bad luck, him being a shadowsinger, everything in his life has made him and his thinking stand out from everyone.
Reminds me a little of Zsadist from Black Dagger Brotherhood?
