The Mist

Kyle Nimbus was a brilliant scientist who developed a special formula that could transform his body into an intangible, vapor-like substance.  Unfortunately, the experience of his body transforming into a gaseous form had a profoundly detrimental impact on his mind and Nimbus was rendered criminally insane.  

Now calling himself ‘The Mist’ Nimbus embarked on a vicious crime spree and was eventually stopped by the heroic Sandman (Wesley Dodds).  The Mist next appeared in Opal City and became a reoccurring nemesis of Star Man (Ted Knight).  The Mist was later recruited into the Ultra-Humanite's incarnation of the Secret Society of Super Villains and battled both The Justice Society of America as well as The Justice League. He would later return to bedevils the new Starman (Will Payton).  

Somewhere down the line Nimbus fathered two children, a son named Kyle Jr and a daughter named Nash.  Both were indoctrinated into villainy and would do anything to win the praise of their sinister father.  Nimbus’ powers were passed on to both of his children, either through genetic inheritance or a recreation of the process that bestowed this abilities onto him in the first place.  And similarly, both siblings were likewise plagued by psychopathy.  

Over the years Kyle Nimbus never let go of his hatred for his nemesis, Ted Knight.  Having grown old and in ill-health, Nimbus set about his final revenge on his enemy.  Kyle Jr. killed Ted’s elder son and destroyed his home.  Kyle J.r nearly succeeded in killing Ted’s younger son, Jack, but failed and Kyle Jr. himself ended up perishing.  This failure and the loss of his son broke Kyle Sr.’s mind and he was reduced to a catatonic state.  

Following her brother’s death, Nash Nimbus took up the mantle of the Mist and proved herself to be even more sinister and deadly than her father.   As the new Mist, Nash succeeded in killing two members of the Justice League (Crimson Fox and the second Amazing Man).  She also drugged and sexually assaulted Jack Knight, resulting in her becoming pregnant with their child.  

Nash gave birth to a son whom she named Kyle Theo.  She kept the child from Jack, promising to make sure he grows up to be every bit as ruthless and evil as his mother.  

Meanwhile, Kyle Nimbus Sr. managed to regain his sanity by way of a Faustian bargain with the demon known as Neron.  Reinvigorated, Kyle Sr. set about a diabolical scheme to destroy all of Opal City.  

Realizing that this plot would result in the death of her son, Nash attempted to put a stop to what her father was planning.  Enraged by her treachery, Kyle Sr. shot and killed his daughter.  With her dying breath, Nash entrusted her son to Jack.

Jack succeeded in thwarting Kyle Sr.’s scheme and the city was saved.  Thoroughly defeated, Kyle Sr. chose to take his own life and the menace of the Mist ended once and for all.   

In the potential future detailed in the ‘New Golden Age’ story arc, it is shown that Kyle Theo Knight will ultimately inherit his mother’s superhuman abilities.  In this timeline, young Kyle follows in his father’s footsteps and becomes a superhero’s joining the Justice Society as The Mist.

A Real Tesla Roadster Has Been Drifting Through Space Since 2018.

On February 6, 2018, SpaceX launched the first Falcon Heavy rocket on its maiden test flight. Instead of carrying a conventional payload, the rocket sent a cherry-red Tesla Roadster into space with a spacesuit-clad mannequin named "Starman" sitting behind the wheel. The unusual payload was chosen as a fun demonstration of the rocket's capability while avoiding the risk of launching an expensive satellite on a first test flight.

After escaping Earth's gravity, the Roadster entered an elliptical orbit around the Sun that crosses the orbit of Mars. It is not orbiting Earth or Mars, but instead follows its own path around the Sun, making it the first production car ever sent into interplanetary space. Cameras mounted on the rocket transmitted unforgettable views of Starman with Earth fading into the distance before the live broadcast ended a few hours after launch.

The Roadster itself has no scientific instruments and no way to communicate with Earth. Over millions of years, intense solar radiation, extreme temperatures, and impacts from tiny micrometeoroids will gradually break down its materials. Although its exact future orbit cannot be predicted over very long timescales because of gravitational interactions with the planets, simulations suggest it could continue orbiting the Sun for millions of years.
