It’s kinda like daycare but for elementary school kids!

We “open” at 6am and like set out stuff for the kids to do (coloring stuff, toys, etc) and then also turn on a movie for them. Around 8:10 we get most of them lined up so they can get onto their bus (we have kids from two schools) and then at 8:30ish we get the rest lined up and ready to go to class. After the first set of kids leave we start getting everything cleaned up

Then we get to clock out and leave for a few hours. We come back at 3:30pm, set up two of those really long lunch tables (the ones with the bench attached) and get stuff out for them to do and put the movie back on, similar to morning time

When they arrive in the afternoon they all sit on one side of the gym and once they all arrive we count them (so we know how many are there in case someone tries to disappear) and have them go wash their hands and use the restroom if they need to

When they come back we have them grab a snack and then they can play until they get picked up! In the afternoon we usually have the basketballs out since we’re in the gym the whole time

Paige (my coworker) has me doing the paperwork (writing down who arrives when and then when they get picked up) and I’m essentially the main one responsible for making sure they “behave” (like no hurting each other, sharing the toys and stuff, etc.) while she checks them in on the computer but she still helps me when I ask and lets me know who’s who when I’m unsure

We stay open until 6pm at the latest or until the last student gets picked up. Right now we only have two students that stay that long. Once it gets closer to 6, I start putting everything away but I leave the movie on

Yesterday I was the main one letting parents inside the building! I also like interact with the kids so I can try and learn their names (there’s at least 20 in the room at once) and if I see them acting upset and stuff and so they can get to know me since I’m new to them

The frog is called "chocolate frog," or Litoria mira (Mira means surprised or strange in Latin), discovered in 2016 in New Guinea it can be found in a swampy area. It's related to the Australian green tree frog (Litoria caerulea)
