I really don't wanna be mean but I feel like people highly overestimate how close Jackson and Elijah used to be.
For the entirety of s1-s2 there's literally no mention of Elijah, no implication that he exists. Most likely this is because he literally didn't exist yet from what I know.
To make this make sense in the jd universe, Jackson would have to have either spoken to and/or about him, but we don't see that. I find this unlikely because he seemed to have stuff going on that he thought about instead, stuff we see within the webcomic like Exer being an ass (love him though), Pamela, the magic, and then stuff we don't see, like school work, running errands, the struggle of every day life.
Yet he still makes space for things he cares about, but Elijah is never once mentioned. Now, this is not to say "Oh Jackson is a horrible friend" because that's just not the case.
They were best friends freshman year, presumably not during sophomore or junior year because I feel like it would've been more specified or implied.
I think they were friends when they were younger but drifted apart over time.
And it's great that they're reunited, don't get me wrong, but like I said earlier I do think people overestimate how close they were.
Sorry that this is badly written I'm writing on phone rn.
