You've been through hell, so have I. So has everybody. But you know what the difference is between you and others? They don't let it define their WHOLE lives.

Use your past experiences to guide you, but NOT define you. You can't let something that happened 5 years ago dictate what you do today. Get the therapy, get the mentor, get whatever you need to, to work through the trauma, then get yourself back in gear.

We've all made mistakes, done things we aren't proud of. Hurt people. And maybe we didn't mean to, we feel remorseful, want to make amends.

If you can, do it. If you can't, boo hoo, get over it. Make peace with yourself and get on with life. Regrets do nothing but keep you in the past and baby you can't move forward if you keep looking back. In fact you could probably get stuck there, a pillar of salt, as your life crashes and burns around you. Give yourself some grace. You were young, you were stupid, but you've learnt. And that's the most important thing.

Either move up, or stay stuck.

I know, I know. But that's not what I mean.

We all have friends who could do better, be better. We give them advice as they cry on our shoulders wondering 'why', 'how', 'oh woe is me' and whatever. But then...do the same thing next week.

And maybe its because they have a low self concept of themselves or something, but they keep making the same mistakes they did regardless of what they went through, and your insights.

At the end of the day, people will only do and allow what they believe they deserve. So just let them suffer. Or you're gonna be suffering too. Stressing out over a grown person not wanting to do better or be better.

One of my close friends keeps getting into relationships with men that have no emotional intelligence, no loyalty, no class. She's obsessed with the idea that its her heavenly granted purpose to 'fix' people. Help 'rescue them from being astray'. But over and over (regardless of my best efforts to help her stop this nonsense) she keeps moving in this cycle of disappointment and loss. Now I just let her be. Infact, so many of my friends do this, that they've started not telling me, UNTIL IT BLOWS UP IN THEIR FACES because they know me, and they know I demand better from and FOR them. If only they demanded better for themselves.

And so my darlings, let them suffer, lest you suffer along side them.

You can't help people who don't want to help themselves.
