plotlines/character traits Elementary kept consistent during the 7 season and did better than most other tv shows

Sherlock is an addict who is constantly struggling with his sobriety

Jamie Moriarty is smart and intelligent, and in no way less than any of her opponents or other Moriarty-versions because of her gender
Sherlock is not super smart "just because", but he constantly learns and educates himself, and is willing to admit if something is not his area of expertise and ask for help
Joan can easily kick ass in several different ways, and still maintains typically feminine traits (gentleness, kindness, being a mother, wearing high heels, etc)
Sherlock and Captain Gregson's father-son-like relationship and trust (despite the initial rocky start)
Joan and Marcus's dynamics. close friends and good teammates when working together, without any romantic undertones.
in fact, the only romantic relationships in the main cast were between Sherlock and Jamie, and Joan and Mycroft.
